An: publishing early for Victor's birthday!
Yuri Katsuki
"Yukoo" I call as Victor and I wait at Ice Castle Hasetsu's counter. She tends to be getting ready to shut shop at this time, but she relies on me to close for her when I need to practice after hours.
A questioning face popps up from behind a shelve and as soon as it sees Victor it's mouth falls open in shocked awe.
"OMGFDS YURI!! IT'S V-VICTOR NIKIFOROV!" Her fangirling pulls a quiet laugh out of me; since we were young she's been absolutely obsessed with this man. Back when Yuko, skated, we loved to replicate his rutines together.
"So he really is your coach!?" She darts up to the desk and leans over, getting a good look at Victor and I. But mostly Victor.
"Its nice to meet you Yuko" he extends his hand to her with a smile. She doesn't hesitate to grasp it and shake it frantically.
"Oh god I think I'm hyperventilating" she relieces Victor's hand and fans her face with haste, turning to me in the process;
"Yuri I'm so happy for you!" Yuko exitedly leaps over the counter and throws herself at me. I have to take a few steps back to stop us both from colliding with the ground.
"I'm happy that you're happy Yuko; it wouldn't be as good if i didn't share this with you" I speak softly and squeeze my childhood friend as much as she's squeezing me. I feel even better about having Victor here now, somehow it's even more special. I didn't think that was possible but It is in some supernatural way.
"Do you know what this means?" She pulls away and looks me seriously in the eye; "you have to win gold now! You have no excuse"
"Hai!" I nod briskly and grin at my friend. If I don't win now I'll never win. So I have to. This is my season.
"You an Yuko seem to get along really well, is she your girlfriend?" As soon as we get through the locker room door Victor questions me; Girlfriend? No way.
"Hell no! She's married and has three daughters!" I shake my head violently as we enter Hasetsu's changing rooms. They're empty since we've come off hours but I prefer that.
"What's with that smile?" I look up at Victor's raised eyebrow expression and realise I had been smiling at the floor like a fool for a bit too long.
"Life's too short to not smile Victor" Yes. I'm right, I don't have time to be depressed, anxious and stressed like I used to be. I need to be positive and milk Victor of all the knowledge he has.
"I guess you're right Katsuki" he chuckles lightly, looking past me instead of at me. He looks so beautiful when he satres into the distance...
"Are you spacing out again? Is it Yuko? Are you just salty that you didn't get a hug? I can give you one if you want" I tease. I wouldn't usually do this but I am in a good mood. So whatever. Surely Victor would just laugh and forget about it straight after.
"Not now. Let's just say you owe me one" he winks at me and for a second I think my knees are going to give in and make me melt to the ground.
"Yuri where do you usually warm up?" I take a beep breath to keep myself stable and point to a set of double doors at the back of the changing rooms as I remove my hoodie.
"Alright!" Victor takes hold of my wrist and pulls me to the doors. His hand is cool, as expected from a vampire, but it's plesantly cold, like an aliviating breeze on a hot summers day.
"Ah lovely! Show me your stretches Yuri" once we're in the small room that looks like a scaled down version of Minako's studio, Victor takes his place in a corner, arms crossed, waiting for me to follow his order.
