Two weeks later we were done that part of the tour and I finally made it back home to Chicago.
"Merry Christmas!!" I called opening the door.
"Kelsey!!" Charlie screamed, stomping down the stairs. I laughed as a pudgy eight year old jumped into my arms, knocking me back a few steps.
"Oh wow! You're so big!" I laughed, putting him down and dropping my bag.
"How was tour?" Aunt Margaret asked, coming downstairs and hugging me.
"It was great," I sighed, tucking my bangs behind my ear.
"That's good, I'm looking forward to hearing all about it at dinner," she said, picking up my bag, and I nodded, speaking of which, it doesn't look like you've been eating much on tour," she said, looking me up and down.
"What is for dinner?" I asked, changing the subject, as she put my bag in the laundry room.
"Chilli," she said and I smiled.
"Sounds good," I said and Charlie tugged on my shirt. "What's up little man?" I asked and he pointed up the stairs.
"What's up the stairs?" I asked and Margaret shook her head and shooed Charlie upstairs.
"A surprise," she said and I raised my eyebrows, walking up the stairs.
"Happy birthday!!" Uncle Jason and Charlie cried as I walked into the living room. I gasped and smiled, walking forward and giving Jason a tight hug.
"Oh my god! Thank you!" I cried, kissing him on the cheek before picking Charlie up and swinging him around.
"You were gone for your birthday so we got some gifts from some family and friends," Margaret explained, gesturing to the presents on the dining table.
"You guys are the best," I said, hugging her and kissing her cheek.

We ate and I told them all about tour, leaving out the part of meeting NF, and after supper we opened presents and went out for frozen yogurt.

The next morning I woke up to my phone ringing.
"Hello?" I asked, answering it.
"Hey Kels?" Jen asked and I nodded.
"What's up boo?" I asked and she inhaled sharply.
"I've gotten myself into something Kels," she whimpered and I sat up, turning on the lamp on my nightstand.
"Tell me what happened Jen," I said and I heard her cry a little.
"I met this guy and everything was going great until..." she said before inhaling and sighing shakily.
"Jennifer, breathe and tell me what happened," I said, running my hand through my bangs.
"We were fooling around when he started to hit me, not that I don't like that because you know I do," she said and I nodded, smiling a little, "but it started out playful and then... Kels I think he broke a couple ribs... I'm in the bathroom of the hotel room and I-," she whispered and I checked the time. 2:30am.
"Where are you Jen? I'm gonna come pick you up," I said and she gasped and I heard someone banging on a door. "Jennifer? Jen?!" I asked and she whimpered.
"I'm by the Wendy's on Stewart lane," she whispered and I got up, pulling on a pair of jeans, boots, and my NF hoodie. I grabbed my keys and wallet and opened my bedroom door, walked down the hall, through the kitchen and living room, and quietly ran down the stairs.
"Jen, love, stay on the line till I get there ok?" I asked and she gasped.
"Hurry up Kels!" She whined and I started my car, pulling out of the driveway and connecting my phone. I started singing Homecoming King by Andy Black, her favourite song, as I drove.
Half an hour later I made it to the hotel she was at and ran inside, killing the button for the elevator, and then killing the button for the third floor.
I counted the rooms until I got to 45 when I busted in the door and rushed to the bathroom door, shoving the guy in front of the door aside.
"Jennifer?!" I called and I heard the lock on the door click. I opened the door and grabbed her, dragging her out.
"Kelsey," she whined and I put my arm under her arms, supporting her and walking her out.
"What's going on? We were just having fun," the guy asked and I put Jen in the elevator before turning around.
"Fuck you, fuck your stupid parents who didn't teach you what is to hard to hit a woman during sex, and fuck your shitty personality!" I shouted just before the doors closed.

I brought Jen to the emergency room and waited with her for an hour before a doctor got to her.
They got her fitted for a brace and sent her home.
I brought her back to my place and got her tucked in my bed before making some tea and pancakes.
Around 8:30am Charlie got up, followed the smell of food to the kitchen, and sat up on one of the bar stools.
"Morning bug," I said putting two pancakes on a plate and handing it to him.
"Morning," he replied, putting syrup on his pancakes and digging into them.
"I'll be right back," I said turning off the stove and walking away.
When I got to my room I quietly opened my door and peeked in.
"You awake?" I whispered and she nodded slightly, giving me permission to go in. "How're you feeling love?" I asked, walking in and sitting on the side of the bed.
"Like some guy knocked me around," she said, sitting up and wincing.
"Funny, that's what happened," I said sarcastically and she gave me a look causing me to laugh a little.
"I'm sorry for getting you up so early," she said and I shook my head,
"Don't worry about it," I replied but she shook her head.
"No, I know you like to sleep in when you're home," she said, sitting up a bit more.
"You're my best friend, Jen," I said and she shrugged, "I'd get up at midnight for you, which may I add, I have done before," I said and she rolled her eyes.

The rest of the day was spent taking care of Jen, getting her over her hangover and out of bed.

The next day we got the brace on and comfortable and went Christmas shopping.
"Ok so Margaret tells me Charlie is really into Spider-Man right now so that's his gift," I said as we walked into the mall.
"Mark wants a new laptop," Jen said and I nodded.
"Ok let's hit Best Buy and I can grab some Spider-Man movies and a laptop," I said and she smiled at me.
"Ever efficient," she teased and I laughed, slipping my arm around her shoulders.
We got all our Christmas shopping done and did some shopping of our own before going to Earls for dinner.

"So," Jen groaned, sliding into the booth across from me, "did you like my gift?" She asked and I put my wallet and phone on the table.
"The guitar?" I asked and she nodded.
"That's the one, got it specially made," she said and I smiled, sliding my hand across the table and taking hers in mine.
"I loved it, can't wait to play it," I said and she nodded.
"That's good," she said just before the waiter got here.

"You're gonna be ok?" I asked, putting the car in park in front of her building.
"Oh yea, Mark's gonna be home in a minute and he'll take care of me," she said and I nodded. "thanks for taking care of me," she said, grabbing her bag.
"Not a problem, call me anytime," I said and she nodded, leaning forward and giving me a hug. I smiled and kissed her cheek as she pulled away.
"See you Boxing Day?" I asked and she nodded.
"Can't wait," she replied before getting out.
I drove away and grabbed some frozen yogurt before heading home.

"I'll love you forever
I'll like you for always
As long as I'm living
My baby you'll be," I said, closing the book and tossing it to the floor. I looked down and smiled, kissing Charlie's head before picking him up and quietly carrying him to bed.
"Bug's asleep," I said, walking into the kitchen and sitting on one of the stools.
"Coffee?" Margaret asked and I shook my head.
"No thanks, tea please," I said and she nodded, putting the kettle on.
I tossed a bag of popcorn in the microwave and opened my laptop, waiting for the popcorn to pop.
I opened Netflix and set up an episode of House before putting the popcorn in a bowl, saying goodnight, and going to bed.
