"Kelsey! Auntie Kelsey!!" Someone whispered fiercely, waking me up. "Come on Auntie Kelsey! Santa came!" I sat up and tucked my bangs behind my ear and looking around.
"Shit!" I breathed when I saw Charlie leaning on the edge of my bed. "Sorry bug, what time is it?" I asked and he shrugged.
"Who cares! Santa came!!" He exclaimed and I nodded.
"Ok, ok," I said pushing the blanket off my legs. "Let me get dressed and I'll be right out," I said but he shook his head, tugging at my hand.
"No! You have to come right now!" He whined and I chuckled, slipping on some pyjama pants. I let him pull me down the hall, through the kitchen, and into the living room. I gasped when I saw the amount of presents under the tree.
"Santa certainly did come," I said and he nodded, letting go of my hand and running forward.
"Which ones yours?" He asked and I shushed him.
"You're gonna wake up mom and dad," I said, laughing at his disappointed expression.
"But which one?" He whined and I laughed, sitting down in front of the tree and handing him a present.
"This one," I whispered and he smiled, shaking it.
"Hey now!" I exclaimed and he stopped and looked at me, "it might be breakable!" He gently put it down and grabbed his stocking.
"Can I open this?" He asked excitedly and I nodded. "Aren't you gonna open yours?" He asked and I shook my head.
"I'll open it later," I said and he shrugged, taking stuff out of his stocking. We sat in the living room going through his stocking and guessing at what all his presents were until 7:30 when Margaret and Jason got up.
After they were up we all opened presents and had breakfast, spending the rest of Christmas Day vegging out."You guys really didn't have to get me anything for Christmas," I said to Jason when Margaret was tucking Charlie into bed.
"Margaret said no one's too old to get a visit from Santa," he said with a shrug. I smiled and got up, walking to the kitchen.
"Beer?" I called
"Sure," was the response I got and I grabbed two beers before walking back to the living room.
We watched Now You See Me and Now You See Me 2 before I decided to go to bed."Kelsey?" Someone called as I was walking down the hall and I stopped.
"Charlie?" I whispered, poking my head into his room.
"There's someone in my closet," he whispered and I slipped into his room.
"Are you sure?" I asked and he nodded, pointing to his closet. I pulled out my phone and turned on the flashlight. I opened the closet door and looked around before turning around.
"Nothing, see?" I said before falling butt-first into his closet. "Ahh! Charlie! Charlie help me!!" I yelled and I heard him run over.
"Auntie Kelsey!" He cried, pulling on my legs. I reached down and grabbed underneath his arms and pulled him up. I started tickling him until he couldn't breathe.
I picked him up and carried him back to bed, tucking him in and kissing his forehead.
"There's nobody in your closet," I said, brushing his hair from his forehead, "and if you feel like there is just close the door, that's what I always did," I said and he nodded.
"Goodnight Charlie," I whispered
"Good night auntie," he replied and I kissed his forehead again before walking out of his room. I closed his door and sighed, rubbing my face, before making my way to my room.
When I got to my room I slipped out of my jeans and turned on my laptop.
I sent out some emails and did some work before turning my laptop off and sliding under the covers."Kelsey?" Someone whispered and I sat up quickly, looking around in the darkness.
"Who's there?" I whispered and I felt someone grab my hand. I flinched, pulling my hand away, and look over.
"Aunt Kelsey, someone's in my room," the person said and I smiled,
"Climb on in," I said, patting the bed, and Charlie climbed under the covers and snuggled up to me. I wrapped my arms around him and quietly sang Phoenix by Juliet Simms until he fell asleep. The next morning I woke up to a sleeping 8 year old beside me. I slipped out of bed and tugged on the jeans I was wearing yesterday before going to the kitchen and making coffee.
"What time is it?" Jason asked, pouring himself a cup of coffee, and I checked the clock on the stove.
"8:30," I answered and he nodded, taking a sip and checking his phone. "I made waffles," I said and he looked up, surprised.
"What'd you do?" He teased and I rolled my eyes.
"Ha ha," I said sarcastically and he chuckled. "I'm gonna be gone all day, I have a meeting and then a Christmas party with the band," I said and he nodded, taking another sip.
A few minutes later I left to have a shower. When I got out Charlie wasn't up yet.
"Hey bug?" I whispered, nudging him, and he opened his beautiful blue eyes.
"Kelsey?" He asked and I nodded.
"Yea, listen bug, I need to get dressed," I said and he nodded. He got up and left the room rubbing his eyes.
I blow dried my brown hair straight and did my makeup before pulling on an oversized sweatshirt and dark green skinny jeans. I slipped on some combat boots and grabbed my wallet and phone, shoving them both in my pocket.
"Jason? Can I borrow the truck?" I asked, grabbing a waffle, and he looked up at me.
"What's wrong with your jeep?" He asked and I sighed, taking a bite of the waffle.
"Flat tire," I said with a full mouth and he nodded, grabbing the keys from the counter and tossing them to me. I nodded at him, kissing Charlie on the forehead before going downstairs and out the door. After my meeting I had lunch and picked up gifts for the band.
Around 3:30pm I headed over to the studio.Around 1am I said my goodbyes and left, making it back home around 3am. I slipped in through my bedroom window and kicked off my boots and jeans and hopped into bed. I watched House and scrolled through twitter until 5am when I finally fell asleep.
