"I see you've traded down," a deep scratchy voice said as soon as I opened the motel room door and I stopped in my tracks.
"Who is this Kelsey?" Nate asked and I started shaking my head.
"Oh she didn't tell you? I'm Ben, Kels' fiancé," Ben said and Nate looked from me back to him.
"Fiancé?" He asked and I sighed, stepping inside.
"Ben, you need to leave," I said, my voice sounding more confident than I felt, and he raised his eyebrows as he crossed the room and grabbed my shoulders.
"And why would you want that?" He asked and I glanced back at Nate who looked like he was ready to kill Ben.
"There's a restraining order against you, you need to leave Ben," I said and he smirked, caressing my cheek and looking and me thoughtfully before turning and facing Nate.
"Do you have any idea who I am?" He asked and Nate shook his head slightly.
"Let me put it this way, when I left-"
"Was arrested," I interrupted and he chuckled, looking back at me and winking.
"When I was arrested, I left this beauty carrying my child," Ben said and Nate looked at me but I avoided eye contact.
"Charlie," Nate breathed and Ben turned to me.
"You named her Charlie?" Ben asked and I sighed, running my hand through my hair.
"It was a boy and yes, I named him Charlie," I said and he nodded.
"I wanted to name the child Charlie," Ben said, turning to Nate, and Nate nodded slightly. "So, babe, daddy's home!" Ben exclaimed crossing the room, grabbing my shoulders, and kissing me roughly. I shoved him away and spat on the floor before wiping my mouth.
"You need to leave," I said, my voice now shaking with rage, and he smirked again.
"You're so hot when you're mad," he said and I took a deep breath.
"If you don't leave us alone I'll call the police," Nate said and I smiled slightly.
"Ooh, look who's being protective," Ben said mockingly, turning back to Nate. "But here's something you probably didn't know, Kels here slept with someone tonight and I'm guessing it wasn't you," Ben said and Nate looked at me.
"That-that's not the point," he said and I let out a breath.
"No, no of course not," Ben said and I grabbed my phone and slowly called 911.
"You're calling the police now? Why? On what grounds?" Ben asked and Nate turned away from us, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Violating a restraining order," I said simply and Ben sighed angrily, stepping over to me and gently placing his hand on my cheek.
"I will be back, that restraining order only lasts for so long," he said quietly before kissing me roughly again and leaving.
As soon as the door closed Nate crossed the room and took me in his arms. I took in a deep breath of him and sighed as he adjusted his arms around me and kissed my head.
"You're ok, you're safe," he whispered as he walked me over to the bed and we sat down. I pulled away and Nate tisked as he wiped my cheeks.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry," I said and he smiled softly, kissing my cheeks. "I wasn't sure what was going on with us and he was just there," I blurted out and he nodded.
"Ok well its late, lets get some sleep," he said and I stopped and looked at him.
"What?" I asked and he nodded.
"You need sleep," he said simply and I nodded, getting up slowly and he kissed my cheek before going to his side of the bed and laying down. I laid down beside him and he pulled me into his warm embrace, burying his face in my hair.
"I love you Nate, I'll never do anything like that again," I said and he pulled away, a slight smirk on his face. He kissed me gently a few times before smiling at me.
"Do you really think you traded down?" He asked and I smiled and shook my head.
"Of course not," I said quietly and he kissed my forehead gently before pulling me back into his chest.
