Have fun last night?" Margaret asked as I added green onions and cheese to the scrambled eggs I was making and my smile fell.
"Did we wake you up?" I asked and she chuckled, shaking her head as she walked over.
"Just when you came in, I went back to sleep quickly," she said and I sighed.
"Ok, I was a bit worried we were being too loud," I said and she shook her head again.
"It's ok to be too loud every now and then," she said, patting my hand, before she grabbed a bottle of juice from the fridge. Margaret was around 15 or 16 years older than me so she wasn't even out of med school when I was put into her care. She raised me the best way she could and we were like sisters by the time I was 15.
"So who is he?" She asked as I split the eggs and put them on two plates, "and is he still here?"
"Nate," I said happily and she nodded.
"Romantic," she said as I put buttered toast on the plates and walked away.

Nate's POV
Kelsey slipped out of bed around six in the morning and I lay in bed for a couple hours waiting for her to come back.
I thought about yesterday when I got here and started getting angry when I thought about what was going on.
He was standing so close to her. No one should stand that close to a girl who's taken.
"Nathan?" Kelsey asked as she opened the bedroom door. I smiled, sitting up and seeing her holding two plates of food.
"Oh let me help-" I whispered as I got up and took the plates from her. She kissed my cheek quickly before we got back in bed and I slipped my arm around her shoulders and we ate our breakfast and talked.

After breakfast and an awkward shower I met her aunt and uncle and we left for the studio.
We picked up some coffees before meeting Jen and the guy from the studio yesterday in the parking lot.
"Mark this is Nate, my boyfriend," Kelsey said, stressing the word boyfriend, and I shook Marks hand. he had that smirk on his face that he had yesterday and it made me uncomfortable.
Jonny, Brian, and Mike were already inside and jamming in the recording room. We watched them for a few minutes before Kelsey flicked a switch turning off the amps.
"Oh come on! We were almost done!" Brain yelled but Kelsey just knocked on the window with an amused smile on her face.
The producer came in today and worked with them all day, barely stoping to eat lunch.

"Charlie?" Kelsey called as she opened the front door and we heard someone running downstairs. A chubby little boy with hazel and dirty blond hair ran into Kelsey's open arms with a big smile on his face.
"This is Nate," she said turning to me and Charlie waved to me.
"Hey buddy," I said and he smiled shyly.
We went upstairs and the three of us made dinner before watching cartoons until Charlie fell asleep on my lap.
Kelsey took a picture of us before taking Charlie to bed.
"I could get used to this," I said after Kelsey sat down beside me. She smiled shyly and I kissed her temple as I put my arm around her shoulders. She played Civil War and snuggled into my side.
About halfway through the movie Kelsey fell asleep and I gently picked her up and carried her to bed. I carefully undressed her and tucked her into bed before kissing her forehead and crawling in bed beside her.
I pulled her into my arms and took a deep breath of her hair, calming me down, and closed my eyes.

I woke up to a stinging pain in my cheek. I blinked and looked around. Charlie was standing in the doorway, his mouth open, and Kelsey was sitting in the corner. She was crying and her face was bruised and she was holding her ribs. Damn it.
I hopped out of bed and Charlie flinched, stepping back. "Kelsey," I breathed and she curled further into the corner.
"Charlie, go call mom," she said with a shaky voice and Charlie ran down the hall.
"Kelsey, I-"
"Nathan, get me an ice pack from the downstairs freezer," she said, cutting me off, and I nodded. I jogged downstairs and grabbed an ice pack before taking the stairs two at a time and jogging back to her room. I knelt down beside her and gently pressed the bag of ice against her eye. She flinched away and took the bag from me.
A few minutes later Margaret and Jason ran in, shoved me out of the way, and Jason carefully picked Kelsey up and carried her out of the room.
I followed them in my car to the hospital and went inside with them though they made it clear they didn't want me there, I couldn't stay away.
"Get her straight up to MRI, I feel some internal bleeding," the doctor said and I rubbed the back of my neck as I do when I'm stressed.
"YOU!"Jason shouted, pointing at me. "YOU DID THIS TO HER! YOU HURT MY BABY!" He shouted and Margaret grabbed his arm.
"Jason, calm down," she said but he shook her off and grabbed my sweatshirt, throwing me against the wall.
"HOW DARE YOU?! I THOUGHT YOU HERE A DECENT GUY BUT NO DECET GUY HITS A WOMAN!" He shouted before throwing me onto the floor. I caught myself just before I fell and stood up, stumbling back a few steps.
"YOU STAY AWAY FROM HER! YOU HEAR ME?! STAY. AWAY." He said, poking my chest, and I walked away, putting my hood up as I got outside.
I paced in front of the ER doors for a bit before getting in my car and driving off.
