"Dead or Un-dead?"
"Dead," the guy answered.
I handed him a human menu and made him the drink he wanted. I was back at the Seven Deadly Sins. What am I doing here, you ask. Why the Hell would I, a human, work with these bloodthirsty vampires, you ask again.
Im here because Im working. And I work with them because i had too. I had to prove to myself that i couldn't just sit at home and be scared for the rest of my life. And if I survived this crew then I could survive any other vampire. Rodrick warily welcomed me back; I know I must be on his last nerve by now after all the the second chances I have been asking for lately. But once a brother, always a brother. Brielle? Well, Im just a human. Every thought or emotion that I convey is only viewed as 'just human' by them even though these are the thoughts I have been expressing all along. I don't mind that much. They're just vampires, its in their nature to feel that way. I was on the night shift since there wasn't much to do during the day; I'm sure you remember that Rodrick's crew doesn't operate during the daylight. Around 3 AM I ducked out early. I was really tired, my body ached, my muscles each seemed to way a hundred pounds. I still have that fear of cars, but you could guess that I couldn't walk all the way home, so I insisted that if I have to take any kind of vehicle it would be a train. I payed the man behind the ticket window and sat inside to wait until the train was boarding. It was only a five minute wait. Soon I was sitting on the leather seats in the train and watching the street lights blur together outside in the darkness. The lights inside the train flickered a few times before deciding to just turn off and save themselves the trouble. The rocking of the train and the sounds of the wheels on the track soon lulled me into sleep.
It was a terrible, restless sleep. In my dream, I was walking down a dark empty street. Things and people kept reaching out of the darkness to grab me as I ran past them.
"Gabriel. Gabriel. Gabriel." They all taunted me.
I ran faster into the darkness until I tripped over something and went sprawling over the gravel road.
"Gabriel," a familiar deep voice said. I lifted my head just a little and saw a black boot, I lifted my head further and saw someone who I never expected to see again.
The sound of a horn woke me up. It was loud and shrill, a train horn. Me and the few other occupants wandered off and around the station. Soon I was all by myself. I took out my phone, it was 2 AM and I had a new message:
To: Gabriel
From: Jo ♥
Hey, babe. Kids wnt go 2 sleep, I can't come get u. Sorry xoxo
I sighed and started walking towards home. It would definitely be a long one. Usually Johanna came and met me at the station and we would walk home together, it took so long to walk to and from the station that Johanna and I rarely had much alone time. So walking together was usually the us time. It would be a long, quiet walk without her tonight. I walked through the forests and empty roads with my hands in my pockets and my head down. All the sudden I ran into someone.
"Oh, I'm sorry, sir. I wasn't watching where I was-"
He gripped my arms, a look of panic in his eyes, "They're coming. They're coming." His snow white beard moved as he spoke.
All of the sudden the guy was being removed from me by two young cops. They apologized for that and said he had escaped from a mental facility, "but he's harmless," they assured me. The old guy struggled until the cops had locked him in their patrol car. They tipped their hats to me and then got in. But I couldn't, or didn't, say anything. I just kept watching the old guy who looked like he desperately needed to tell me something. I stepped towards the patrol car, the guy put his palm against the window and moved his lips. The car took off speeding down the street. I couldn't believe what that old guy had said; 'They're coming... And you can't stop them.'
