End of January

Dear Diary,

Life is a mirror. What people see; You are. For example, my brother. Everyone

sees a popular party boy who plays sports like people breathe air. What they

see, he is. And his girlfriend, Erika. People see her as a slut. They want to

kill her but at the same time they want to be her. What they see of her she is.

But what if that isn't always the case?

Look at my cousin, or my not cousin, Sophia; she was into parties and drinking

but then she met the new kid, Tristan, and now she's toned it down and she's

pregnant. I never would have expected her to be pregnant and want it now. But

she does and she's going to have it. Doesn't that tell you how much different

she is than everyone thought?!

And especially look at Crash. Everyone thinks he is a punk problem child with a

bad attitude and rep from New York. But that couldn't be farther from the truth.

They all look at him and see someone who can't be Drew, someone who is less of a

person because my brother says so. But this is only because they don't look hard

enough. I never would have looked but now that I have, I'll never look away from

anyone else.

Can you look at me too?

Can you see me?

Can you see past the mirror and see that I might be changing?

...Can you see that there might be something else inside me that no one believes

could ever be there?

It was just a normal day at school. I was hanging out with my friends and

talking about a new cheer routine I had come up with for practice later.

Ruby and I broke away from everyone else to go to science class.

"Thank you for joining us, ladies," Mr. Sales says as we take our seats in the

middle of the classroom.

"First I'll hand back tests and then we'll get into today's lesson. If you have

any questions or concerns then set up an appointment and we'll go over them

together.

"I totally aced this one," I say turning to Ruby.

"That makes one of us! I'm surprised I'm not failing this class."

Mr. Sales walks past us, dropping our papers face down on our desks.
