End of February (Lexi's POV)

Dear Diary,

Secrets are terrible. The longer you have them, it feels like there is a huge balloon inside of you that is going to burst at any second!

*sigh* Breathe, calm down, Lexington. (that's my full first name, by the way)

I have a secret that no one knows. I am half vampire and half werewolf and I am the only one of my kind.

But I also carry other people's secrets; my mother is a werewolf, the first female one, my father is a vampire, the first one...you know him as Dracula. But besides my family secrets there are those of my friends; Drew and Nikola are half vampires and there parents are full vampires, Johanna's brother, Ryder, is a werewolf, Sophia is magical and Erika...she's not human. I don't know what she is but she definitely can't be human.

All of these secrets kill me! I can't talk with Drew or Nikola because they don't know what they are...and talking to my parents gets old.

"Mom," I said in a very serious tone, my mom put down her coffee since I never use my serious voice, "I want to tell someone about me."

"Lexington, we've talked about this before. It isn't safe! I was the first female werewolf and your father is Dracula- people would want to hunt us because of that. And you're a very special hybrid- the only hybrid. Could you imagine if an ARC got a hold of you? Say goodbye to rock concerts and mountain climbing and hello to needles and labs."

I sighed and rolled my eyes, "Ma, you're totally over reacting. I'm just telling one girl! And she's magical too."

That totally changed my mom's point of view! "Oh, go ahead then. Be back by midnight."

Yeah, my parents are so cool.

I took off into the forest, ignoring my car. I shed my jacket and kicked off my shoes. My eyes narrowed and my blood raced through my veins. The vertebrae in my back disconnected, elongated and re-arranged. My fingers left their sockets and grew. My skin grew chestnut colored fur and my nose turned into a snout.

I was done changing.

What I hate the most is being a pretty human and vampire but an ugly werewolf. It depends though, my mom and I have the ability to look like normal dogs but being our natural Were-selves was much more fulfilling. I took off through the forest, my vision was all tunnely. I reached a lake and on the other side was another werewolf. He spotted me and rose onto his back legs as I did the same.

He snarled and I let out my feminine howl.

"AeeeOooooOooo!"

The were- across from me shifted into a human. He had short brown hair, brown eyes and scars across his chest and shoulders. It was Ryder.

I shifted into my human self and then immediately ducked behind a tree to pull on a bandeou and shorts.

"Oh, its you, Lexi," he said and stepped behind a bush to hide himself from me.

"Good to see ya, Ryder. I didn't know that you often went running?"

"Yeah, these full moons really are a bitch."
