April 12th
Last night Nikola tried to talk to me... Again. She has now resorted to Instant Messaging me. I don't why I even have a fucking IM! Anyway, she tries to talk to me and tries to apologize but I always just sign out. I don't want to talk to her. I play with my bracelets and stare back at the screen. I don't want her seeing my wrists. I don't want her seeing how fucked up and damaged I am. It wasn't fair of her to ask to see my most private and personal secret when she couldn't even show others the surface of who she truly is. Underneath all of the fake and uncaring is someone really, truly, wonderful. I've seen her and I want with my entire heart for the world to see her like I do. I see her as faulted- but it makes her perfect, I see her as funny, I see her as real- because she can see what others don't, I see her as honest- because she knows that she is lying to them all and that there is more to her. She thinks that her lies and past make her ugly- I think that because she could confess that, she is beautiful.
I'm happy that I could make her realize that she is special and has much to offer, but I don't understand why should want to be with me. She has so much more potential than I do. All I have is a dangerous past that follows me and a severe psychiatric problem.
I slammed the laptop shut and stalked off into the kitchen. I brewed some coffee and poured it into a travel mug and then sat down and pulled on my converse. I rushed out of the house before anyone could come back home and drove into town. By the time I reached the record store I had finished my coffee.
"Hey, bro. Nice day, huh?" Damon called as I shuffled inside.
"Hey," was my reply as I bee lined for the coffee maker. I was pleasantly surprised to find fresh coffee and happily poured some into my mug.
"Mmmm," I hummed as I took a sip and sat behind the register.
"Now that has to be unhealthy," Damon shot as he fell back into a beanbag chair.
I shrugged and kept drinking cause I really didn't care.
The morning flew by extremely uneventfully. Every few minutes Damon and I moved around the store- we found ourselves in extremely odd positions such as laying across tables or under the register. One time I was leaning against a shelf of records and Damon came by and accidentally shouldered the records which proceeded to bury me.
I played everything from Aerosmith to AC/DC to Queen and The Beatles. "Dude, I'm going out," Damon held up his hand and I launched the keys to the car at him.
I waved goodbye and then shuffled towards the back of the store. I lit a cigarette and sat there smoking because I was bored. Then I took out a guitar and started playing.
"'Oh, pretty woman
Walking down the street
Pretty woman
The kind I'd really like to meet..'"
I looked out the window and saw Nikola crossing the street towards my store.
She opened the door and her eyes found mine.
"There you are," she sighed exasperated, "I've been looking for you."
