I Spy Sea Green Eyes

Chapter 23

"Thank you for coming to Cafe Gigi, come back soon!" Misty the crappy waitress said with a fake smile plastered on her makeup-caked face as she handed me my strawberry smoothie.

"Funny,I didn't know there was another cafe here in Ogygia," I muttered sarcastically as I took the drink from her and sipped it experimentally. No salt this time, thank the gods.

"Checking for salt?" Minakshi said as she came out of the employee's room, fresh out of her waitress uniform. Misty gave Minakshi a glare, which she returned with full force.

"Don't you know it," I said, grinning. She shouldered her bag, and we walked out of the cafe, which was getting more crowded by the second. Around ten, which was when my work was over, monsters were more active, so the cafe was kinda like a hangout spot.

"So," Minakshi said casually as we walked, but I could tell that she was excited. "Tell me more about you going out into the mortal world with the big boss!"

"It's nothing, really," I said, taking a sip of my smoothie. "I gotta go for a meeting in San Francisco with him, and then I come right back here with him."

"Aw, no action?" Minakshi pouted, and I raised my eyebrow in reply.

"Just kidding, girlie," She said, grinning at me.

"First of all," I said, holding one finger up, "What the heck are you talking about? Second of all," I held another finger up, "What the heck are you talking about?"

She was just about to answer, when she was interrupted by a sound. A variety of sounds, actually.

We looked out in front of us to see Eric making out with some chick. I don't want to go into details, but let's just say that it was the stuff of nightmares. And believe me, I've had a lot of nightmares.

Minakshi's room was just behind the much-too-busy couple, and she wrinkled her nose distastefully. After a moment of hesitation, she surged forward and....

Tapped him on the shoulder?

"The key, Eric," She said impatiently as he pulled away from the leech- I mean, the other empousa- and gave her a questioning look.

The key? That could mean only one thing.....

Eric handed Minakshi a key and then resumed his very consuming (quite literally) activity with the leech/empousa as Minakshi stormed into the room. She turned back to give me a sheepish look, and then shot a glare at the two people outside her door. I waved a goodbye as she shut the door, and I quickly sprinted away from the scene of potential cannibalism.

I tried to shake the images out of my head, but they seemed to come back in higher definition that the last. Not of that excruciating make out session, but the others.

Eric and Minakshi fighting with each other.

Minakshi tapping Eric on the shoulder as if she was used to the sight of him making out with random girls.

Eric giving her a key and returning to whatever he was doing with a Tritannus level of nonchalance.
