"I know who he is, Milord," I said as politely as possible, which hopefully betrayed none of the emotions that I was feeling. One of which included some very satisfying strangulation, another one being-and I hate to say this-fear. WHYYYYYYYYY?????????? Joey and I silently screamed in unison. For once, we got along.

You do? The giant's voice in my mind sounded as if it came from far away, but it was as hard-hitting as surround sound. Well, I don't think I've ever seen a mortal like you.

I silently thanked myself for having the sense to draw my hood over my head, essentially covering my face from him. I felt an unnatural chill creep up my neck, and I grimaced. That never happened. I was normally a warm(sometimes hot, literally) blooded creature from a warm region who tended to catch fire, and the feeling of cold was practically foreign to me.

There was only one explanation for this: my magic was draining away. And since I was a daughter of Hecate, magic was only my life source! Oh goody!

Interesting, The giant's voice said. Lots of magical energy from you, kid. Similar to that wretched magic goddess. Coming to think about this, I think I do know you.

"You don't," I said, desperately trying to keep my facade up, but even I could see that it was slowly deteriorating along with me. The chills kept pulsing through me, and I tried hard to stop myself from collapsing. You're stronger than this, Khloe, I told myself. Don't let him win. It's just his aura affecting you, nothing big right?

Daughter of Hecate, my sworn enemy, he said. Have you truly seen the light? I would be damned if I forgot to mention 'I told you so'. Through the mist, I swore I could see a victorious smile. I tried to send him one of my fiercest glares, but a sudden shock of pain knocked the breath out of me and I felt the world spin.

I straightened myself and looking Tritannus in the eyes, I said, "Excuse me, but I probably should be going right now." Without waiting for an answer, I walked as fast as I could with my breaths becoming shallower and the pulses of cold evolved into a full blizzard inside me. I tried to fight the feeling to simply slip away and gritted my teeth in determination as I saw the huge doors loom over me.

Just a few more thousand steps to the safety of my room, I said myself as I felt myself sway. I heard someone call my name and the sound of hurried footsteps. Suddenly my surrounding did a 360 turn, and I felt myself falling onto the cold hard ground.

Falling, completely weak, defenseless and lifeless, all my senses and emotions deemed null and void.

Falling a long way down into the darkness, with no hope of ever getting out.

Tritannus POV

"Khloe!" I shouted as I saw her sway, and not in a dancing sort of sway. In a split second, I found myself running as fast as I could on the smooth marble floor, the lack of friction making me trip almost every step I took. As I watched, Khloe's legs gave out under her and she fell to the ground.

When I got near, I skidded to a halt and knelt next to her unmoving form. I took her limp hand and checked her pulse, which was faint to the point of nonexistence. If I strained my ears, I could hear her short, shallow breaths. A strange feeling of dread that I had never felt before settled on me.

"What did you do!" I thundered, turning around to glare at- the empty hall, apparently. That dastard of a giant had dared to disappear off to somewhere while I was faced with my Assistant General who was possibly dying. The thing was- how and why exactly did this happen?

I tried to think about the reasons while I picked Khloe up from the floor, because it definitely must have been uncomfortable. I remembered the last time I carried her like this, and what she had said.
