Camp Half Blood, Long Island, New York, 2015
BEEEP!
BEEEP!
BEEEP!
BE-KABOOM!
I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock spontaneously combusting.
I hate when that happens.
I sat up in my bed groggily and studied my surroundings, the Hecate cabin in Camp Half-Blood. Once again,I had accidentally set fire to my alarm clock. The purple flames consumed the clock, until a sudden blast of water extinguished them.
I looked around for the source of that water. A voice whispered,"That's the twelfth alarm clock you burned."
I would be lying if I said I didn't jump in fright. Hey, any sane demigod would be freaked if the air talked to you, and it wasn't a wind spirit.
The air next to me shimmered, and a girl I recognized as my annoying half-sister Lou Ellen Blackstone, materialized next to my bunk. Ah, of course it was her. Who else would be stupid enough?
"Thanks,Lou,"I muttered sarcastically. "This is exactly the wake-up call that I needed."
"No problemo,"She whispered. She loved to freak me out like that. I did that to her too,so we kept it even that way.
I picked up my burnt alarm clock, studying the melted plastic and charred metal because I had literally nothing else to do. Rolling my eyes at the non flameproof-ness of the clock, I snapped my fingers and instantly, another clock popped out of the air. Here's to hoping this one lasts, I thought as I set it down on my bed.
"It's 4:30,"She said."You gotta go to the Woods arena."
I gave her a noogie. I was closer to her than most of the other Hecate campers. She was the only other camper to know about my secret life as a demigod spy. I could trust her with almost anything, even though she wasn't very trustworthy. The only other person I trusted more than her was.........................
Don't,my conscience warned me. You won't do yourself any good thinking about him.
I got off my bunk, grabbed some of my stuff and headed towards the showers.
After my shower,I changed into an orange Camp Half Blood T-shirt and light blue denim capris. As I dried my hair,I inspected myself in the mirror (which I found wasn't very productive). I had long wavy dark brown hair which for some reason, had blonde tips, even though I never coloured my hair.I had a natural tan from spending 12 years of my life in Athens, which sort of made my dark violet eyes stand out. I was in proper shape, as a spy should be,but I was hopelessly short, so that meant that I looked like a 16 year old when I was actually 21.
When I got out of the showers,Lou Ellen said,"Don't be late for the singalong. Remember,Mr. D turned Cecil Markowitz into a bottle of Pinot Noir 'cause he came late last evening and we had to change him back. For the rest of the night he was spitting out grapes, man was that gross."
"Don't worry,Lou,"I said, grinning."No one's gonna be turned into alcoholic beverages on my watch."
Me and Lou were quite close this way. Even thought I was older by 4 years, she was way more responsible than me,hence the reason why she mothers me this way,and why she was the head counsellor for the Hecate cabin.(It was also mostly because I was too busy with spy stuff to do counsellor stuff.)
I grabbed a pair of my silver coloured sandals and put them on.I took my silver bracelet which also happened to be my magical weapon arsenal,Mageía,from my nightstand and slid it on my wrist.
