"Here you go, boss," I said as I set down a stack of weapons diagrams on Tritannus' desk. "I've verified the diagrams, made a few tweaks and they're good to go."
He glanced at the scribbles on one page. "The modifications.....they make the ballista look more like a trebuchet. Are you sure about this?"
"The trebuchet is comparatively more flexible than a ballista," I said, knowing that he would have asked me this, "And combined with the power of a ballista, it should virtually crumble Olympus' fortifications in no time."
And it can also be screwed up if tampered with, I thought to myself, and I have just the thing.
"Hmm.." Tritannus said,"I have to say, I didn't know that you would be able to perform well in the art of weaponry, but you're actually good." For a moment, I saw a smile flicker on his face, and then it was gone as quickly as it came.
For some reason, I found myself remembering yesterday and my neck burned. He actually bothered to get me ambrosia and listened to me for once. And then of course, there was the part when he carried me in his arms... I tried to shake that out of my head. And the fact that Tritannus looked exactly like Percy, the very person who I had just realized that I liked all along......a shiver ran down my spine.
The sound of the telephone ringing brought me out of my reverie, and I immediately dashed towards it, picking it up in the nick of time. "This is the Supreme Commander's office, how may I help you?" I said with a fake smile in my voice.
A few minutes later, I set the phone down with a rare serious look on my face. "There's a general meeting of monsters, and both you and I have to be present. Gaia said it was imperative that the both of us be at the throne room in exactly..."I glanced at Tritannus' watch and said,"Three minutes."
Tritannus sighed. "Just like Gaia. She organizes a meeting out of the blue and expects everyone to be there at her beck and call. So horrible, I tell you."
"Yeah,I bet," I said with a smirk. "She's the one who's probably straight out of Horrible Bosses." I was rewarded with Tritannus rolling his eyes at me, those sea green ones that I'd somehow grown to like........Percy's, I mean. Not his. Of course.
I unconsciously shook my head, fiddling with Mageía. The words you can't afford to be in love rang in my ears. I turned back to Tritannus and said,"Well then, we wouldn't want to waste the three minutes that we have, would we?"
Out of the blue, he threw something at me which I caught out of the air. In all honesty, It wasn't that hard to do, since the cloth floated in the air as I caught it. It was a cloak with a hood as I discovered which was my favorite color: violet. I raised my eyebrow at Tritannus who was wearing a dark blue cloak which apart from the color, looked similar to mine.
"Why the cloak?" I asked as I put it on, struggling with the soft fabric. "If you haven't noticed, it's summer pretty much everyday here in Ogygia and wearing this cloak will melt me."
"You have to look official, Khloe," He said. "Assistant generals normally don't wear ripped jeans, flip flops and a shirt that says 'wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey' on it. To be the part, you have to look the part."
"Like a three piece suit and a pair of dress shoes is what a Supreme Commander is supposed to-" I stopped in my words as he raised an eyebrow-"Okay, maybe it is what you're supposed to wear. But aren't you supposed to wear like a laurel wreath with a toga or a chiton or stuff like that?"
"Um," he said sheepishly,"I might need a little help in that department. And since you have certain magical abilities that I don't......"
