Would I be lying if I said that I was screaming? The answer is: Yes and no. No because I wasn't scared, and yes because I was whooping in excitement.
"This is so cool!" I yelled over the whooshing wind as I gripped onto the seat for dear life. "This kinda reminds me of the time I rode a pegasus!"
"Khloe!" He said as we cruised our way through the streets. "I'm trying to drive my bike here without crashing it!"
"Oh, I didn't notice that!" I said sarcastically, rolling my eyes. "And by the way, this isn't your bike. You told me so yourself."
We were going so fast, I almost didn't hear him mutter "Technicalities," under his breath. I smiled to myself, smugly registering that I had annoyed him. How I loved to annoy him, and watch his reaction to it.
I felt the wind ruffle my hair, and I smiled. I always loved the feeling of speed, and being on a fast bike was pretty much it. Then a thought hit me like a tractor.
My hair?
I quickly pulled my hoodie over my hair to hide it, but in doing so, I released my grip on the seat and lost my balance. I was going to fall off, and there was only one solution.
I grabbed Tritannus's shirt.
"What the-" He said as he was pulled backward by me pulling myself forward. "Khloe!" The bike swerved dangerously.
"Falling! Off!" I managed as I clung onto him. "I love bike rides, but it's not my time to die!"
"Or really?" Tritannus said as he regained control of the bike. "When is it, then? I want to mark my calendar."
October 31st.
"So funny that I forgot to-" I was caught by Tritannus suddenly braking, and my face slammed into his back.
"Uuurmmmphh!" I exclaimed, my swearing muffled. I peeled my face off his back and rubbed my nose, which hurt from the collision. "Why the heck-" I peered over his shoulder to see a traffic jam.
"Where are we?" I asked Tritannus, still rubbing my nose. "You still haven't bothered to tell me where we're going!"
"Marina Boulevard," He said. He was about to say something, but something stopped him.
He took a deep breath in and out, as if to calm himself down. "Khloe," He said as if is blood had reached its boiling point. "Unlock your legs from around me, please, before my head blows."
"What?" I said. I looked at my legs to see that they were indeed wrapped around Tritannus. Immediately pulling my legs away from him, I let go of his shirt and scooched a considerable distance away from him, so much so that I was almost at the edge of the bike.
"Sorry," I muttered, and I felt my hair beneath my hoodie burst into purple flames. I quickly willed the flames to disappear, and I made it back to the 'special' way that it was before.
"I smell fire," Tritannus said, then he looked back at me. "Did you set your hair on fire again?"
"For the record, I don't set my hair on fire," I complained, crossing my arms in front of my chest. "It catches on fire."
"Sure thing, Katniss," He muttered as the road block started to move a little.
"You can read?" I asked him.
He gave me an affronted look. "Of course I'm literate, Khloe! What did you think?"
The meaning of my words sunk in. "I didn't mean it that way! I meant, you read books? Ones without any pictures in them?"
