I woke up to the familiar sound of my endearingly annoying clock and looked around my room. It looked ever the same, but it seemed different; now it felt more like a room than a nice jail cell. I'd never been able to get enough sleep worrying about my mission, but now I'd found myself finding comfort in the solace of my bed.
Getting out of bed, I did the usual things which I really don't need or want to say. Fifteen minutes later, I walked out of my room with a fleeting smile on my lips. The trip to San Francisco had shown me things and confirmed my doubts, like:
1.What would happen on my birthday (thanks to Nereus).
2. Tritannus was bipolar.
3. My boss had somehow got it into his head that he wanted to trust me.
4. Percy was planning to propose to Annabeth, and he would have.
5. Mr. Chase wasn't angry at me, but he still missed Annabeth like Hades misses Persephone during the summer months.
6. Tritannus had some sort of past. The last one was on my mind all the way till I reached the office. The way Tritannus acted at the beach.....I felt a wave of heat course through me when I remembered his easy grin and his equally easygoing attitude....and the way he had talked to me, all reminded me so much of Percy.
I felt a blush creep onto my cheeks as I remembered how he had whispered in my ears and caused a chill to run down my spine. Not just anyone did that. Only Percy. And now....Tritannus.
Of course, I only shivered because of revulsion. What, you thought that I was starting to like Tritannus? Well, think again.
So does that mean you like Percy? Joey asked teasingly. You don't normally get spine chills with any regular guy. And Percy ain't regular.
Stop acting like you're Aphrodite, I thought as I started sorting through letters and emails all addressed to the Supreme Bipolarness, Lord Katastrofeas Tritannus.
Katastrofeas, I mused. Interesting name.
As soon as I finished sorting through the mail, a certain specimen of the jerky male species appeared in front of my desk.
"Morning, boss," I said as I handed him the necessary two letters out of the fifty letters. "I've forwarded an email from Eric which said it's private, so I didn't bother to read it."
He didn't say anything, but nodded and went towards his office. He was back to his usual brooding self, the type that you would usually see on rebels. It was so ironic, seeing as he was the Supreme Commander, the one who made sure that everyone did their work properly and dish out orders.
A few minutes later,I heard a sound which sounded like a bang on a table. I didn't know where it came from but I had a pretty good feeling that it was my dear boss. A moment later, I heard his voice.
"Khloe," He said calmly, but I knew that he was trying to control himself. "Get in here."
I got up from my chair and walked towards the office, not liking the time of his voice one bit. I slipped inside the office to see a pissed-off Tritannus.
"Khloe," He said, taking in deep breaths to calm himself. "What is this doing in my inbox?"
He turned his laptop around (a MacBook Air, mind you) for me to see an email that looked far from professional.
Khloe,
Wanna hang out at the beach sometime? I'll bring the drinks.
