I wake up feeling cold. I look to the empty space next to me. Where was Ryan? I look at the time. It was almost lunch. Our cricket match would be starting soon. I would have to get ready. I walk down stairs to see Vi making lunch.

"Good Morning Cas."

"Morning Vi. Umm. Where's Ryan. He stayed the night...."

She interrupts me." He left early saying he was going to go get ready for the cricket match today. He said to let you sleep a bit, cause you were exhausted."

"Oh. Okay." I was confused. He didn't need that long to get ready right? I stood by the stove mulling over why he left?

"Are you and Ryan okay?" Vi asks concerned.

"Uhhhhh. I don't know. Brandonconfessedthathelovedmelastnightafterhetriedtokissmeagain. Ididn'ttellRyancauseotherwisehewouldgetangryatBrandon. AndRyanisactingweirdly. ImeanwhatifheheardwhatBrandonsaidandmadesomeassumption." I blurt out really fast. Vi gives me a wide eyed expression.

"Okay. Breathe and repeat that." She says calmly.

I breathe out and repeat it again. " Brandon told me he loved me and he also tried to kiss me.  I didn't tell Ryan this, cause he would be angry at Brandon for trying to come between us.Ryan is acting weirdly. And I am worried he might have heard what Brandon said and made some assumption." Vi nods her head understandingly.

"Well, I'm sure Ryan is fine. And if he isn't just explain what happened. It doesn't do to just keep secrets from him. Just be honest with him, he'll understand. He cares about you deeply, I can see that. Just talk to him." Vi advises. "Now, you have a cricket match to go win. So go get ready." I nod and walk upstairs to get changed. I look at my phone to see I had 7 missed calls, from an unknown number. I had no idea whose the number was, so I left it and got changed.

I contemplated what Vi said. She was right, telling Ryan the truth would be best. But I knew he would fly off the handle if he knew what Brandon said. I think it is best if I stay quiet. Teachnically it isn't lying to him. I nod reassuringly to myself and go downstairs. I quickly eat my lunch and leave the house, to go next door. The door opened and I came face to face with Ryan.

"Hey." His expression was blank. "You ready to go?"

"Yeah. I'll just get my bag ." I stand in the doorway patiently while he gets his bag. "Let's go."

"Kay." We walk to the car in silence and then drive in silence. I don't understand why he was acting so weirdly. When he parks, I stop him from opening the door. "What's up with you?"

"Huh?"

"Why are you acting so weirdly? Did I do something?" I ask worried.

"No. Of course not. I'm just stressed about some maths assignment, that's all."

"Why didn't you say? I can help."

"Yeah sure. Can we work on it after cricket practice on Wednesday?"

"Yeah. That'll work." I turn his head towards me. "You sure you're fine and this isn't just an excuse?"

"Yes." He leans forward and kisses me. I hear a knock on the car window.

"Oi. Lovebirds. Get a move on. We have a game to win." It was Brandon. He gave me a lingering look before walking off.

"He's right. Let's go." We walk off towards the field where our team is. I unpack my bag, while Ryan goes for a quick warmup.

"Cas. Can I talk to you?" Brandon rushes up to me.

I back away. "No. I'm sorry. Not now."

"You didn't answer my calls." He says.
