"When are they coming over?" I whined Ryan sitting down on his bed next to him.

"Drake and Emily are picking up Laila, they should be here any minute. You excited?"

"Of course. It's the Cricket World Cup Final. New Zealand finally has a chance at winning. I mean yes Australia won the other match at Brandon's, but they won against South Africa really well in the semi final. Let's hope they win."

There's a knock from downstairs. "That'll be them." I stay lying on his bed while he goes to meet them. I hear them loudly coming upstairs.  Ryan comes back in with the other three.

"Hey." Drake, Laila and Emily say in unison. Ryan comes back and sits next to me.

"She's been whining all day for you lot to come." I playfully slap him.

"I feel loved." Drake yells. Emily rolls her eye while smiling.

"So when does the match start?" Laila asks.

"Well, they are about to start. Get comfortable. This is going to be one long ass match." Ryan says. I sit far back against his head board while he walks over to his mini fridge. "Drinks all around." He hands around a drink to everyone before he comes and cuddles next to me. Drake and Emily were already settled on a beanbag. Ryan flipped on the tv.

"Laila, get over here." I asks. She comes and plops down next to me as the match begins. I take a gulp of my beer, let's hope that New Zealand wins.

.............

"If Australia wins this, I don't think I'll ever be able play cricket again." I say, my voice slurring slightly. Everyone else seemed to be drunk. I was only slightly tipsy though.

"We can't have that. Our cricket team won't survive without you. We need you on the team." Ryan says.

"Thanks, but seriously. New Zealand has to win." I pointed to the score. "They just have to get a few sixes and they'll be fine."

"Let's hope they can hit them." Drake says eating a slice of pizza we had order a while ago. Emily had fallen asleep on his lap. By now it was past 11 and we had school tomorrow. Laila had retired to the air matress and yet I could see she was still awake.

One of the players hit a six. We all jump up except for Drake and Emily. "Fuck yes." I yell taking another drink from the bottle then settled back on the bed after jumping up.  The next bowl went and it hit the stumps. It was a wicket.

"NOOOOOOOOooooo. They needed him. How are they going to win now?!" Ryan groans in frustration. "New Zealand has only 23 balls left. They need 47 runs. How is this possible."

The next person walks onto the field with his bat. " Let's hope he's ready to bat some good runs" Laila murmurs. I silently agreed. This game of cricket had us all riled up.

Bowl after bowl, runs were hit. And each six and four got us all cheering. New Zealand was left with 1 ball and needed 5 runs. They needed a six.

We all sat on the edge of our seats. "Come on, come on." I repeated under my breath. Ryan was cursing while Laila was hiding with a pillow infront her.

We watched as the bat swang and hit the ball, pelting it high into the stands. It took us a mere second for our drunk brains to realise it was a six.

"YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!" We all screamed simultaneously. New Zealand had won. we all jumped up and down. Ryan pulled me in for a kiss, his mouth tasted of alchohol and pizza. But I was filled too much excitement to even care. I smiled into the kiss and pulled away squealing.
