"Cas?? Come on, up you get. You have school." Vi bangs on my door. I stand up from my place at the window seat. I had been awake for the majority of the night with recurring nightmares of Ryan and I was also freaking out about "The Ring". Walking over to the wardrobe I grab some random pair of clothes. One look in the mirror shows the sleep deprivation in my eyes. I hide the bags under my eyes with some makeup and walk downstairs.
"You walking?" Vi asks plopping a fried egg onto my plate.
"Umm...yeah." I didn't want to go in another car.
"You okay? You don't look to well. Makeup can hide the bags under your eyes but I can see you don't look too good."
"M'fine." I mumble turning my head down and eating the egg with some toast.
"You look so pale." She pinches my cheeks making me flinch and yell.
"Oww. What was that for?" I question rubbing my cheeks.
"You needed some colour, I should be going. Bye." She chuckles and hugs me before leaving. I wash up before grabbing my bag and leaving. It was weird walking past Ryan's house without even stopping, his car wasn't even parked in it's usual sport. It was bashed of course, so it was gone. Today was probably going to be boring without Ryan, I was so used to spending most of my time with him that now he wasn't beside me it felt weird. I couldn't wait to go visit him after school, I just wanted it to be 3:00 already so I could see him.
I finally reach school and I drag my self to mentor group meeting up with Emily, Laila and Drake.
"Hey." Emily says brightly. "Did you get the homework from Brandon?"
"Yeah. How'd you even get it to him? He doesn't even go to school, he's in a gap year."
"He was at school for some reason."
"I told her not to let him drop it off." Laila says glaring darkly. "I don't like him."
"Neither do I. Well he acts friendly and all, but I just don't like him." Drake states.
"Well he seems okay to me. And I knew you'd freak out without the notes and stuff, and Brandon was willing to drop it off. It was easier cause the hospital's in the other direction." Emily smiles.
"It's fine. We're just friends, anyway you sent some company over for me." I end the subject and look to Drake to change topics.
"Well, may I just say, my new job is amazing." Drake has a smug look on his face. "Seriously, I get to see all the cars that come in. It's awesome, I even get to help out with them, but most of the time I am doing paperwork. They piled all the paperwork on to me because I'm new."He pouts a bit before continuing. "But it won't be for long. They just have to trust me before I get to work with the cars more."
"Trust you." Laila laughs as if it the most funniest thing she's ever heard. "You'll be filing paper for life Drake." Emily and I join in laughing as Drake rolls his eyes. The bell rings signifying we can get to first period.
The rest of the day was boring, and I found myself staring at the hands on the clock impatiently. As soon as school finished I pile my books in my locker. Laila said she could drop me off at the hospital.
"You ready?"
"Yeah, let's go." We walk over to her car, I stare at it apprehensively before stepping in slowly.
"So, you said this morning that you had Brandon as company. What does that mean?"
Her question manages to distract me slightly from the roar of the engine. "Oh, we just hung out, watched a movie or two. It was nothing really."
