It was close to the end of shift. We just had about 30 minutes and shift was going to be over. I was excited to get out of town for a little bit. I just wanted things back. I wanted us back. Were okay, but we just needed some time for just us. It wasn't about fixing us because theres no fixing. Were married and were happy. It's just were going through a hard time. Some alone time will give us time. We can talk and it's just us. 

We didn't tell anybody yet. We just wanted to keep things normal today. We didn't want to just put this on everyone at the start. Matt looked at me " we should tell everyone now..." I nodded " yeah.. ok.." 

We walked out to the kitchen. Everyone was there. Matt looked at them " guys we have to tell you guys something..." Hermann looked at us " what's up?" I looked at them " Matt and I... were taking some time off.." Otis looked at us " what?!" Matt finished " Were taking 2 weeks off... for us. were going to be out of town for 2 weeks just us..." Hermann looked at us " are you ok..?" I nodded " yeah were good... we just need time for us... we haven't had that in a long time and getting off the grid..." Matt smiled " it will be good... so Hermann your acting Lieutenant..." I smiled " Brett.... Boden's bringing in Rafferty she's a great paramedic..." 

Brett and I were alone stocking the ambo. She looked at me "Gabby.." I looked at her "yeah..." She looked at me " you sure your ok..." I looked at her " I am.." She looked at me " this break.. it's sudden.." I looked at her " Well we haven't really ever had a weekend alone in all the time we've been together.. we were always busy with work and with everything that has happened... we... we decided that we needed this..." She looked at me " Well have a good time... call me when you get back.." I hugged her " sure..."
