Hey Everyone! My name is EleanorHelena and I'm a writer and ambassador on wattpad. My main project is Ethereal Angels, a paranormal book (also my first) but I am almost finished with it and have begun working on a new book called the Zombie King. Zombie King is actually based off a dream I had and I decided I would take it and turn it into words. The Zombie King is also my first time writing in first person and oh gosh it's been fun but also a challenge switching into first person. Anyway this chapter is about Genesis, the main character, and her life before she met her friends.
Enjoy!
Genesis-
In the beginning there was blood. Lots and lots of blood everywhere. The screams had been so loud that my ears would ring and my head would ache. The living ran down the roads in horror trying their best to escape while the dead sought them out.
But this... this isn't the beginning. This is after the screaming, the bloodshed, and the gore. This is when the screams stopped and the moans echoed through the streets as the dead wandered aimlessly.
I stood at the long window looking down the street. A large tree stood in front of me, the large limbs tangled up reaching for the sky. I stared out through the tree and onto the road watching the figures below stumble along the road. I sighed in relief as I watched them pass down onto the larger road."Not today." I said out loud. The sound echoed off my light pink walls. I looked around the room starring at the childish border that surrounded my room. Oh how I wish I would have redecorated the room while I still could. Barbie's, perfectly pristine in their boxes, stare down at me on one side while porcelain dolls smile at me from the other side. I used to love the dolls that surrounded me, but now their stares made me uneasy.
I made my way over to my white drawer to grab some clothes to get me through the day. I slipped them on and ran down the stairs, tennis shoes in toe and down into the hallway. My eyes welled up as I stare at the family I've lost within the past few months.
Or so I thought.
No one could be sure who had lived and how had died we could only just assume, like my parents did, that most people didn't survive. Even looking around our neighborhood, the loss was astounding as I hadn't seen a survivor in, well, I honestly don't know how long.
The once neatly trimmed yards and bushes were overgrown and full of trash and some of the lawns even had new 'ornaments' of blood and entrails that were strung out in various patterns. Some survivors' homes, like ours, had wood nailed across every window and doors trying to keep the living dead out. This definitely wasn't the neighborhood it had known.
