Snow Spotify Playlist!

Hi! I'm Julia and am the owner of the account @jule009, here on Wattpad. This is my second time doing this and I'm very excited. Today, rather than sharing more writing from my book Snow, which I am featuring, I created a Spotify playlist for it. So even if you haven't read my book, I still totally recommend all of these songs!

You can also go check out my giveaway where I'll be dedicating three chapters to a winner!

My story, Snow, follows the story of Calestia, a sixteen-year-old girl who suffers through a snowy apocalypse. The world experiences an onset of snow, that doesn't stop for months. This forces her and others also caught in the apocalypse to have to figure out how to survive in this world.

Snow (Hey Oh) – Red Hot Chili Peppers

The first song on my playlist has to be this, mostly because of the name itself. In general, the lyrics themselves seem to represent parts of the story as well, and the song is really good. I felt it was a necessary addition to my playlist. Whenever I think of this story, it tends to remind me of this song!

Ghost Town – Adam Lambert

This definitely has to be one of my favorite songs on this playlist because its chord progression is so beautiful! I love the lyrics, too, because of how they relate to the story. With the fact that the characters are literally in an apocalypse, you can imagine how they all might feel like they have their own ghost towns inside of them. I'd high key recommend this for anyone, even without the context of my story.

The World Will Begin Again – Volunteer

Much like the first song in this playlist, I feel like a lot of the reason why this must be in the playlist is because of how the title relates to Snow, although this has a more optimistic view in that sense. The song is very upbeat and generally is amazing!

Is There Somewhere – Halsey

I'll be quite honest in saying this is probably the song that currently seems to make the least sense in this playlist, and I considered removing it. But then I thought about it again, and it does fit in a way, that has yet to really come in the story yet. So, in case you're up-to-date with my story, this song might become relevant soon.

Dream – Imagine Dragons

Okay, hands down, I'm nearly positive this is my favorite song out of my entire playlist. I'll likely be saying that again for a few others, but I can't help it. This song is purely beautiful. It represents the characters a ton, because they are living in a literal hell. Everything's a mess is only a little bit of an understatement for them. And just a forewarning if you hadn't already guessed – their apocalyptic struggle isn't even near over. They've each seen their fair share of sorrows during this apocalypse and I think this song represents them all very well.

Sail – AWOLNATION

This is a song where I believe the actual notes of the song represent the story more than the lyrics. I love the tune of this, and I could almost imagine it as background music while writing the story. I also find it relevant with how it's called Sail, and the apocalypse they experience starts off with flooding before the snow.

Radioactive – Imagine Dragons

To me, this song is necessary for any apocalypse, no matter what it is. It feels like it was legitimately created for an apocalyptic, or revolutionary setting. I've loved it for way longer than I've been writing this book, and couldn't not have it in this playlist. I loved it so much I even named one of my other works, Ash and Dust, after it.

Everybody Wants To Rule The World – Lorde

You may have actually heard this song before, since it's one that was remade by Lorde. And the remaking she did is the song that I'm talking about. She has a different take on the song, and turns it into something dark and exciting! This relates to my story a lot because of the antagonists in the story (but I don't want to delve too much into it, since I don't want to give things away!)

Seven Devils – Florence + The Machine

This song is pretty relevant to what will soon be happening in the book. This talks a lot of death and bringing destruction. Although I won't go too much into it, as I wouldn't for the previous song, I think this song definitely deserves to have a place on this playlist. Also, I felt the need to have a Florence and the Machine song on here.

Ain't No Rest for the Wicked – Cage the Elephant

Honestly, this song is just so good. I couldn't not have it here. It has some relevance to the antagonists (again who I won't delve into) and for the motives for a lot of the characters in the story. As it is a fight for survival, you can see why this might relate.

Stairway to Heaven – Led Zeppelin

This song is probably the oldest on this list, and probably the longest. Possibly the most well-known, too. I love this song because it has so many different dynamics and is just beautiful in general. It's also all about a "Stairway to Heaven", something seemingly beautiful and out of reach, much like what the characters in the story are searching for. This song is among the list of my favorite songs from the playlist.

Yellow Flicker Beat – Lorde

This song is very empowering and fits the story well because of this. The reason this has been added is also very much like the reason for Seven Devils. Also, the first line is going to have a lot of relevance in the future of this story (mostly just a single word in it).

Glory and Gore – Lorde

This is really the first song (besides Snow) that I found to really fit the story, which is why I placed it at the very end. It's all about fighting and as the title claims "Glory and Gore". I love this song a ton because of the chorus and lyrics, and really every part of it. I think it's the best way to close off this list.

I hope you enjoyed my song selections! I'm very excited for the future of this story! I'm hoping to finish this first book soon! I have many ideas for what will happen next, and am nearly too grateful for how well it's doing. I'm also extremely grateful to Kelly Anne Blount, who allowed me to be in this this year!

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the rest of the block party's posts!
