I had never seen someone so pale in my life. The little girl was the same color as the sheets on her hospital bed, her face and body bruised, her eyes fluttering as she had a nightmare. Elliot reached for the handle, but I quickly pushed his hand down and turned to look at him.
"Stay out here, okay? I don't want her to feel surrounded," I whispered, my eyes locked on the small girl.
"Okay, you take the lead. If you need anything, tell me," Elliot replied. I gave him a tight hug and a quick kiss before walking into the room. The small girl heard the door shut, her eyes shooting open as she panted hard.
"M-Mama?" she panted, my heart breaking for her.
"No, sweetheart. I'm Detective Benson, and I'm here to help," I replied softly.
"Where's my mama?" She whimpered, tears streaming down her cheeks.
"I need your name before we can find your mama. Can I know your name?" I asked, sitting beside her bed. She looked down at her hands and took a shaky breath before looking back at me.
"I'm Annabeth Ross..." She trailed off.
"W-What are your parents' names?" I asked, a lump growing in my throat. Ross was a common last name, but it scared the crap out of me.
"Anna and Ike Ross."

The moment I opened the door to the hallway, I was running. Tears streamed down my face as my chest ached. Elliot called for me, but I ignored him as I kept running. Once I reached the outside, a gasp left my throat as I held onto the railing.
How did Ike have a kid? He kept me for three weeks, and I never saw another person in the house, let alone his family.
"Ma'am?" a nurse asked as she walked from the emergency room.
"Yeah?" I panted.
"Are you okay? We were moving pretty fast," She frowned, her hand touching my arm.
"Just a little overwhelmed... I'm sorry for bothering you," I apologized.
"Don't apologize. If you need help, please come inside. We can help," she said with a small smile.
I tried to calm myself down, but I was so anxious. I tried my hardest to forget Ike, but I saw the scars daily, and I couldn't forget.
"Detective Benson, what the fuck was that?" Elliot yelled when he found me.
"Don't," I huffed.
"What the hell are you doing? Running away from a victim is so unprofessional!" Elliot scolded. I hate it when he treats me like a little kid.
"That little girl is Ike Ross' daughter. I can't look at her without seeing her father raping me... beating me... I'm sorry, but I can't do this. If I go back in there, she won't get taken care of like she deserves."
"Okay. What do you want to do?" Elliot asked.
"I'm taking myself off this case and going home. I need to hold our babies."
///
I spent all night with my kids, rocking them and snuggling them until they got tired of me. Elliot got home super late, after not telling me how the case went after I left. When he entered the house, he slammed the front door, and I rushed to see what was wrong.
"El?" I asked.
"Go to bed, Olivia," Elliot huffed. I quickly followed him into the kitchen and grabbed his hand. My eyes went wide when I saw his bruised knuckles.
"What happened?"
"Ike is in the ICU," Elliot replied.
"Did you try to kill him?"
"Yup. It didn't take much since he was already weak from being someone's prison bitch," Elliot replied. I took a slow breath, tears burning my eyes.
"Why?"
"He hurt you, Liv. I've wanted to hurt him since you were kidnapped, but today I finally had the opportunity because I needed to tell him about his kid," Elliot replied as he grabbed an ice pack.
"Please don't do it again, okay?" I whispered, not sure what else to say.
"I promise, Liv. Never again."

I sat at my desk doing paperwork when Amanda slammed her chair back and ran from the room. I quickly looked at Fin before standing.
"Liv, I'll take care of this," Fin spoke, but I shook my head.
"No, it's okay. I got this." I replied, following Amanda to the locker room. When I got in the room, Amanda was sitting on a bench with her head hung.
"Rollins?" I asked.
"Liv, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to cause a scene," she sighed, her head still hung. I sat beside her and grabbed her hand gently.
"What happened?"
"Remember Kim?"
"It's kinda hard to forget her, Rollins. What happened now?"
"She got arrested back home on drug charges," she sighed.
"Isn't she on probation?"
"Yup, and now she's in jail. My mother wants me to pull some strings and get her out," Amanda grumbled.
"You aren't going to help her, right?" I asked.
"God no! She did this to herself, and we need to stop babying her... I cannot believe how hard it is to have a druggie as a sister," Amanda breathed.
"I had a drunk for a mother, so I kinda get it," I replied softly.
"I'm so thankful to have one sister who isn't a mess," Amanda said, grabbing my hand and squeezing it.
"Do you have a half sister or something?"
"I'm talking about you," Amanda breathed. Tears welled in my eyes as I smiled at her.
"That means a lot..." I trailed off.
"Now that we both got emotional, I should probably pick up my chair," she said with a weak laugh.
"Yes, and apologize to the dent on the floor," I teased, pulling Amanda close and hugging her tightly.
