Tears streamed down my cheeks as I sat at the local precinct and held Serena in my lap, and Emily and Noah slept on either side of me. I hated this all, every last second of it.
"Mrs. Stabler?" An officer spoke, and I nodded.
"Yeah?" I questioned.
"Your husband is going to have to stay the night. I'd recommend that you go home and get some sleep. Tomorrow he is going to court, be prepared to pay bail." The officer spoke, and I nodded slowly.
"Alright, um, can I see him for a moment? Please, a favor from one officer to another." I plead, and he nodded.
"Sure, five minutes. I'll wait here." He spoke and I gave him a thankful smile before heading away, Serena on my hip.
Elliot sat on the bench, missing his tie, shoe laces, and belt. I gripped a bar in my hand and swallowed hard.
"Are they treating you right?" I asked, and he looked up and nodded slowly.
"Yeah, but I wish I wasn't in here." he sighed. He walked over and gently touched Serena's cheek and then grabbed my hand.
"I'm getting you bailed out tomorrow." I replied and he nodded.
"Yeah, well hopefully it isn't denied. If it is, I want you and the kids to stay with Amanda or have her stay with you. I just don't want you guys staying in the house alone." He spoke, and I started to freak out.
"Why?" I breathed.
"Because Ike might have made some friends in prison and I don't want you and the kids to get hurt." He replied and I nodded ever so slightly.
"Should I ask for officers to be stationed outside of our place?" I asked.
"I'll use my call to contact Cragen and see if he can work that out." He replied.
"I love you." I breathed.
"I love you too." He whispered.
---
I put the kids back to bed as soon as I got home, and then I slowly searched the house, my gun in hand. I made it through all the rooms, and when I got back up to my room, and was starting to change, my phone rang. I nearly jumped out of my skin.
"Benson." I breathed.
"Liv? Are you alright? Cragen called me after El called him." Fin spoke, and I swallowed hard.
"Can you come over and stay?" I asked.
"Of course, but what's wrong?" He asked.
"Elliot beat up someone, and now he's in jail, and said that someone might come after us." I blurted.
"I'll be there in 15 minutes. Don't do anything until I get there."
I was so thankful for having Fin there, and I managed to get some sleep, after I moved my three children into my bedroom so I could still keep an eye on them. I woke up early the next morning and showered and got dressed. I headed down stairs and made coffee, just in time for Fin to come into the kitchen, his usual "it's too early" self.
"Coffee is fresh and I can make breakfast before Lucy gets here." I spoke, and Fin nodded.
"Going to court?" He asked as he grabbed the biggest cup and filled it with coffee.
"Yes, and your going to be bouncing off the wall." I replied, as I started to get things out to make breakfast.
"I'll be fine. Just need some energy." He replied and I rolled my eyes.
I was just finishing up breakfast when someone rang our door bell. I stopped in my path and Fin grabbed his gun and headed to the front door.
"Girl, early 20's." Fin spoke, and I walked out and looked and saw Lucy.
"It's my sitter, let her in." I replied and Fin nodded.
"Hi, Sir?" Lucy asked, and I stepped forward and smiled.
"Hey Lucy. Sorry about Fin, he works with me and is going to stay here with you and the kids when I'm at court." I replied, and she looked at me with confusion.
"Why?" She breathed.
"It's just a precaution. Nothing to worry about. Just keep the kids here today, okay?" I replied and she nodded.
"Okay, but where is Mr. Stabler?" Lucy questioned.
"He is busy today. I'll call when I'm heading home and I can pick up some lunch." I replied and she nodded.
"There is breakfast in the kitchen, and Serena was a little stuffy last night so she may need some medicine today. Noah isn't allowed to use his finger paints because our new white bedspread is now his canvas. Emily needs to do her homework before she can play." I spoke as I pulled on my jacket, and Lucy nodded once again.
"Of course."
---
I sat silently as I waited for Elliot's name to be called on the docket. When it finally did, Elliot's face was bruised and I wanted to kill whoever did it to my husband.
"Mr. Stabler, what do you plea?" The judge asked, and I looked at Rita Calhoun's back, hoping that she could really get him out of here.
"Not guilty." Elliot replied, and the judge nodded.
"What do you say?" The judge asked, and I saw Casey and I swallowed slowly.
"I believe that Detective Stabler should be released into his wife's care, since he and she was both dedicated officers and he is NOT a flight risk." Casey spoke.
"I don't believe you, Ms. Novak. Bail is set at 500 thousand dollars, cash only. We are going to take a five minute recess." The judge spoke, and I felt ill. All three of them looked at me as Elliot was cuffed.
"How can she do that? He needs to come home!" I cried.
"I'm going to talk to her, but until that, get bail ready, alright?" Casey spoke and I nodded tearfully. I quickly grabbed Elliot and pulled him into a kiss before he walked out.
"Rita, how should I do this?" I asked and she grabbed my arm and led me from the court room. We stood outside and she spoke.
"Olivia, don't do anything till I get word back from Casey. Until then, go home and stay put, alright?" Rita replied, and I nodded tearfully.
"Please get him out." I breathed and she gave me a gentle smile.
"He'll be out before you know it."
