So I recently discovered Hatsune Miku and the whole concept of a "Vocaloid." Let me explain...
A vocaloid is both an entity and a genre of music...sorta! A vocaloid is literally a hologram that performs music on-stage at concerts! There are real people in the background playing the instruments and then there's the hologram dancing and "singing" to J-Pop (Japanese Pop). Thus, they make "Vocaloid Music."
It's more common in Japan, but the hit vocaloid character is Hatsune Miku (see attachment). And....I don't know what to say really!
The companies funding her (can we call it "her?") are literally pulling in tons of mullah out of this, because people love Hatsune Miku!
I first heard about her from a podcast I watch and one of the guys there went to try one and said it was like crazy how she is idolized as a real artist would! Fans even buy her FORTY DOLLAR T-SHIRTS (U.S. Dollars)!!!!!
LIKE WHAT?!
I'm not hating, no. I pulled up one of her concerts on YouTube and saw it for myself. Albeit, the music is a bit catchy and it does look like a good time...but it's just a concept that's hard to interpret....
I know it's what people like, and I respect that (gotta be careful, Hatsune Miku even has a fanbase here on Wattpad 😮), but like...it's kind of a pointless luxury!
From what I know, you can have her do a concert on your personal laptop (or heck, if you have a holographic projector at home too, you could definitely have one)- so if that's the case...why are we throwing in millions at this?
Omg, even SEGA is a part of this (the company of Sonic The Hedgehog)! They help with the graphics engine for Miku...like, I appreciate that they're in this too, because they need that cash! But I swear, if it comes to this:
I would flip. Although, it is known Sonic can breakdance, so I guess it'd be cool to see him as a backup dancer for her...but still. They better not do a video game collab!
But, I digress, take a look for yourself to see what I mean. It's cool, it's weird, it's unique, it's...I don't know:
She's so popular, artists rock with her! I haven't looked it up yet, but Pharrell Williams has Miku featured in a song and Lady Gaga used her as an opening act for a month during a tour!
And get this- she has 100,000 SONGS!
Are you serious?! I thought *Prince had a lot in his vault.
*When Prince passed away, they found his vault where he kept about 2,000 songs at- all unreleased. He made two songs a day since....1987? Don't quote me on that year, but for a while, he's made 2 songs a day up to his death.
But WHOA. That's a lot! Must be tough to be considered a dedicated fan to try and listen to all of that!
*Tell me what you think of all this and spread the word about this! Doesn't have to be this book, just this part! Show your friends, family, your fish, whoever!
