Does anyone follow the Transformers movie franchise? Yes? No?
Oh well, I'm going to potentially spoil the rest of the movies they're planning to do! Oh, and hello!
OK, so director Michael Bay planned this franchise to be an "extended universe." What does this mean? The phrase has been thrown around a lot for various movies, most notably for Marvel and DC movies.
Unfortunately, Bay will be leaving this project after Transformers: The Last Knight, and for good this time. So, maybe now Hasbro can have full control of their stuff again, but being that this franchise is already set the way it is, whether they like it or not, they're gonna have to keep Bay's creation as the set foundation. Critics could say one thing about these movies and Michael Bay, but you can't miss the fact that these movies rake in millions of dollars!
Yes, their last one, Transformers: Age Of Extinction, didn't hit as hard as they wanted, but it still hit hard! The next one coming out in June, "The Last Knight," is expected to surpass "Extinction" by a lot. With the trailers for "Last Knight," it's assumed that Optimus Prime has found his "creator" that he went out to search for at the end of "Extinction." Then he came back after meeting "his creator" but was corrupted. Which is why, you see him fighting the beloved hero, Bumblebee in the trailer:
Now, going back to my point of an "extended universe." Initially, there was only supposed to be the original trilogy, but they wanted to keep working on this franchise. So in order to even make it seem relevant, Michael Bay decided to go with the extended universe approach, which means, every movie will connect with each other in a much larger scale. In "Extinction," they referenced the original trilogy on what had happened in Transformers: Dark Of The Moon. In "Last Knight," this is the first time the first trilogy and the new set of movies will have a crossover. Josh Duhamel as you can see was in the trailer- he was a part of the original trilogy- and he was helping Mark Wahlberg, who's in the new movies.
Now, of course, the humans aren't the only thing that make this an extended universe.
I want to now talk about my theory for what will happen from here on out. If I spoil, I am sorry. For recors purposes, I published this on April 14, 2017.
There have been rumors after "Extinction" (we will now refer to it as "T4") that Unicron was hinted at in the movie. If you saw the movie, do you remember Lockdown's ship?
The rumor says, that this ship is the head of the supposedly deceased, Unicron.
