Oh.

My.

Goodness.

This movie was a handful. Prepare yourself, because in order to get this done, I NEED to spoil. So you can either:

A. Leave. Come back after you've seen it. Or just leave if you're not interested, I could care less.

B. Stay, because you either don't care for spoilers or have never watched a Transformers movie, but for some odd reason, you like to hear me rant on it.

If you're here, you chose "B." Let's get into this...

"Last Knight" is to me, a 4.56/5. That's a drop from what I'd rate the other movies. In fact, although I actually liked this movie, I can most definitely see why it was received so badly by critics- and the profits dropped dramatically in a week, and the others were a bit better than this one.

A lot of the critiquing comes from the lack of plot development in the movie- true. Well, sorta. They start certain points in the plot, then immediately jump to the next, then the next, and this goes on for a good portion of the movie. Luckily, some points were able to come together in the end, while other were hinted to be covered later.

Now, remember when I thought I spoiled the franchise in our last "Transformers" Talk? Well, I did and didn't.

What I was right about: Unicron exists! He wound up actually being a main point in the story, but never actually showed himself....fully.

What I was wrong about: First off, this franchise went off a bit from the original story. Plot twist: EARTH is Unicron! Which is clever, he's a rock-like Transformer, Earth is very rocky, yada yada yada.

That girl who controls Optimus, IS NOT Solus Prime! Her name is Quintessa, and from what I researched, she has absolutely nothing to do with the original story; she's a character made specifically for the movie series! In the movie, she "claims" to be the Creator, but is also known as "The Great Deceiver."

Why?....

I actually don't know either. Again, a lot of new points (especially characters) were introduced without so much story for them. Guess we have to wait to find out who she is!

Anyway, remember my main man Hot Rod? They roughly touched on an origin story for him and Bumblebee's past with each other. They gave him a French accent in this one, and although at first that was cringey, because he never had one, but they made it up when he said he picked up the accent and doesn't actually like it, which is hilarious!

Sounds like a real life problem for people with accents, huh? Comment below if you have accent trouble!

But yeah, apparently, the next movie will be solo Bumblebee movie. In "Last Knight," they reveal that Bumblebee has been om Earth for quite a while now, as well as Hot Rod, and go as far back as World War 1! 😯

My small theory, the solo BB movie will be an origins story on Bumblebee! That'd be epic! It'd be exactly like what they did with Wonder Woman: make the character lovable in a movie with a bunch of other characters, leave questions as to "where this character came from," then make their own solo movie that winds up becoming the best of the franchise!

Seriously, "Wonder Woman" is actually considered the best DC movie right now, on it's way to beat Marvel's extended universe launcher: "Iron Man" (way back in....2007/-8?).

But, I digress, sorry!

Back to Unicron. Throughout the movie, they show how he is progressively trying to arise from the Earth, as his horns alone are literally arising from the ground in several continents!

Now look at his picture again-

Those horns all over him, were around a PLANET! I told you, this dude is huge

So, his arising was a problem because as I've told you, he's evil. Quintessa actually corrupted Optimus Prime (then dubbed, Nemesis Prime) to retrieve this ancient staff that would kill Unicron.

But, this sounds like heroic stuff, right?

Yes but here's the conflicting problem, Unicron is in Earth, so if they kill him, the humans die too.

In the fight sequence between Bumblebee and Optimus, Bumblebee's REAL voice made a miraculous comeback for a few seconds, and that's what made Optimus snap out of it. It was awesome, let me tell you that! That bot deserves an Oscar for that touching moment they kept us waiting for, for 10 years now! 😂

Wait, back to other things. I'm upset on one little thing though, they STILL didn't explain how Megatron came back from being his artificial "Galvatron" body! I guess we will never know.

He was awesome in the movie though, excellent antagonist who got whooped real quick when he had the chance. 🤣

What made the whole thing more complex on what was considered "good and bad" was that Megatron, Quintessa, and the Decepticons were actually going to kill Earth/Unicron to rebuild Cybertron, their old planet. But their actions were too radical, which made it wrong on their part.

Optimus was defending Earth, to save the humans, risking the chance to rebuild his planet AND the chance to stop the oncoming doom of Unicorn.

Come to think of it, this movie sounds like politics. 😂

So my theory on Unicron being mentioned and introduced for a bigger role in the future was correct! Just not in the way I imagined. Oh well!

However, Quintessa lives in the end and still wants to try and kill Unicron (and Earth). That will be for later movies of course.

Overall, visuals never fail, the humor and action are well balanced- BUT, of all the Transformers movies, this movie could've worked more on plot development, even if that meant making the movie longer. The movie's around 2 and a half hours long, which is pretty long- BUT, for being Michael Bay's last movie, he could've really went out in this movie with a bang! Maybe even better critic ratings! For once, I have to agree with critics on that one, plot development could've definitely helped this movie more.

Oh well. They still have three more chances. Let's see where it goes, and hopefully my ratings won't get lower.

Michael Bay is gone now Hasbro, give your big metallic aliens a final trilogy they deserve....and we deserve, because we're the reason that franchise is still kicking!
