Chapter 40:
Zayn's POV:
There. That felt good. Perrie was right, I was angry and after hitting John, it felt a lot better, he deserved it for gossiping about Perrie with the other workers last time.
"Sir! What was that for?" John cried.
"That's for gossiping too much."
I turned the other way to get back to Perrie but where had she disappeared to? I ran upstairs, hoping she would be in her room but she wasn't there either. That girl really knows how to worry people. I tried outside. No luck. Where the hell was she!
"Perrie is with Bertha and Debbie if you're wondering." Selena said with a knowing smile. I liked Selena but I was still upset over the fact that she was the reason Zac hadn't been punished yet. No, I shouldn't hold grudges so I smiled back to her. "Thanks Selena."
I made a move to turn Debbie's door handle but it seemed to be lock. As I was about to walk off, I heard noises coming from inside, it was definitely Perrie's voice.
"Perrie? Open up." I commended.
"Leave me alone." Perrie said.
"What! Why?"
"I don't want to talk to you."
"Why not?"
"Go away. Go hit some more people while you're at it."
"What!"
"Go away I said."
"Wait. If you think I like punching or hitting people just because I hit John then you're one hundred and ten per cent wrong?"
"Well why would you hit him then? You think you can control everyone don't you."
"No I don't. I had a reason okay."
"I can only control you, no one else." I teased. She would definitely flare up any second soon now. It was cute when she got angry because she never actually got angry. I waited for the shout back or her to storm out the door but she failed to do so. Huh? This was weird, how can she just ignore me like this?
"Perrie open up!" I shouted, fists banging on the door. Sounds of laughter and whisper simmered out the room.
"Zayn, stop your whiny antics boy. Let the poor girl be with us for a bit.", grandma said.
"Fine! Perrie, you watch how much I'll make you pay when you do come out."
...............................................
The sky was coloured black, even the moon had come out and she was still upstairs. What do girls talk about that keeps them hooked for this long? I will never understand. Just as I was thinking, blonde hair flashed passed me to the hotel garden, carrying something brown and heavy. At last!
Like a magnet, I followed her outside until we reached the lady which was the name given to the fountain. Perrie sat down, right next to it and flicked open the pages of what seemed to be an album. Surely I meant more than the album.
"Read me instead."
"You're too typical."
"Never judge a book by it's cover. I'm sure I've said that millions of times in English."
Perrie turned her back on me. Now how do I distract her? I looked around the place, nearly the entire garden was overgrown with roses. I smirked and attacked her with the red blossoms, knowing too well she will get irked and she did but instead of getting irritated like I thought she would, she started splashing water from the fountain at me. She was enjoying this too, so it was a game now was it? I continued to throw more and more handfuls of roses towards her when suddenly, tiny drops of blood dripped from her fingers.
Perrie took her hand back when I was about to pull the thorn out and made to run away, before she could, I grabbed hold of her scarf and pulled her back. Once her back pressed into mine, I raised her finger to my mouth and sucked it, knowing too well she would melt by that small touch. Perrie removed my hands from her waist and faced me, already impatient to kiss me. I laid her on the ground and kissed her, our hands scrunched the red petals as the kiss grew stronger.
"I love you Perrie."
"I love you too. Always." Perrie said and knelt her head on my chest, my hands covered her head gently, she was mine and I was hers. No words, no movement, only the two of us together. Just perfect. Perrie looked precious with the reflection of the moon against her, her eyes were closed, completely comfortable in my arms.
The moment of bliss ended however... Two hands grasped Perrie's necklace that hanged low under her neck and tore the gold chain free. Perrie gasped and I looked alarmingly and astoundingly at my own mum. Debbie was there too.
"Zayn! End this already. I can't bear to see her toy with you any longer." my mum cried.
"Tricia let t-
"You don't dare talk to me!" mum shouted at Debbie without meeting her eyes.
"Zayn please stop already." my mum continued to pester.
"I don't want to."
I trusted her to at least respect my choice and knew she would stop after my decision. Mum threw the chain back at Perrie. "Here! You little whore."
My skin prickled with shock and anger, I struggled to keep still and although I didn't want to halt Debbie's hand that was aimed to slap my mum, I couldn't help it. Debbie's eyes widened and eyed me with shock.
"How can you stop me after that?"
I couldn't say anything in defence.
"Zayn! How can you tolerate that?!"
I couldn't tolerate it but I also couldn't do anything.
"He can tolerate because he doesn't actually love her.", mum wrongly answered.
"Let Zayn decide. Zayn, who do you choose"
"Mum!" Perried screamed. She knew I would never choose.
"No Perrie! I have had enough. Either Zayn chooses you or her."
My mum was wrong. I know but I also know how broken she was and there was always something in me that was prone to keep her fragile heart safe. All my childhood, all I could remember was the sleepless nights where everything was dead silence, except for the sounds of my mother's sobbing. She lived with half a heart and I couldn't be the one who destroyed all of her heart. The only other man she loved was me. On the other hand, Perrie was my heart.
"Say something Zayn!" Debbie yelled in frustration.
I kept silent. Choosing neither.
"If you don't speak in 5 seconds, I will make sure you never see Perrie again. I mean it Zayn."
"Mum please stop!" Perrie cried.
"5... 4... -
"MUM!" Perrie yelled higher.
"3... 2...", now my mum joined in, knowing too well what was going to happen next.
"Well done Zayn. You messed things up again." Debbie said and forced Perrie away. The only person who was smiling was my own mum as if she had just rescued me from death.
