Chapter 53:

"You look so beautiful!" Taylor gushed at me. I looked at myself in the mirror, everything was perfect, the white gown, my curly hair, the glittering jewellery, even my nails. Everything looked and felt perfect except for those blue eyes which only reflected the anger I had in my because he left me again.

"I'm sure you'll win an award there.", my mum said.

The wound under my ring was constantly pricking, making this moment unbearable. I tried twisting the ring around but it only made the pain worse.

"Bless his soul." Taylor whispered, looking at something outside the window.

"Bless who?" I asked.

"You won't believe it but that fan who was waiting outside everyday is in the hospital. John said it was predictable. Drugs and alcohol probably..."

"Oh... God bless his soul."

"There's a huge clump of crowd gathered outside that hospital down the corner. I can see it from here."

"Why?"

"I suppose he was famous. You really should have went out to see him when you had the chance."

"I didn't know this was going to happen."

I really felt guilty now. Hopefully, he will be alright.

"I hope he is alright."

"I don't know about that. John said that even the man knew he had only few days remaining. Said he had too much alcohol and drugs."

"What sort of drugs?"

"I think sleeping pills. Alcohol and that is a bad combination."

"What...?"

Sudden doubt of realisation surrendered me and I twisted the ring shakily in my finger as I tried to think of an alternative. My mind was probably worrying too much. It's just a coincidence, I made myself believe.

"Did John say anything else about the man?"

"Not really..."

"Not even a name?"

"I don't know."

"Call John here."

"What's wrong Perrie?" mum asked, tensed.

"Taylor call John now!" I shouted.

Minutes later, the security guard was here, wearing a puzzled expression.

"Who was he?" I asked, hoping he would say any name other than his.

"He didn't say."

"He must have said something."

"Not really. All he ever kept saying was that he wants to meet you or that you'll come back."

"What did he look like?"

"He was good looking but in a right mess, rarely changed his clothes - oh and he always wore this silver thing in his hand."

I opened my mouth but nothing came out. I didn't want to believe my doubt which was being proven right. Sprinkles of red sprayed the white gown as the ring came completely undone in one fast movement.

"Wait! I remember, once he said he used to teach at some college."

"As an English teacher?"

"Yes! That's exactly what he said. But how did -

Everthing was zooming towards me, I couldn't even feel the burning wound or my own heartbeat. It was really him...

"Zayn!" I screamed. I didn't know what to do other than run outside and get close to him as soon as possible. Everyone was calling me but all their screams became distant as I continued to run out of this place. I didn't even know what I was feeling, if I was crying or if I was even feeling anything. All I knew was that I had to be with him this instant.

"Please take me to the hospital now!" I told the driver desperately.

"I've been told not to. I'm sorry."

It was no use! I had to get there with or without anyone's help before it was too late. Everything became a blur again as I ran towards the entrance and into the streets where the crowd was. Instantly, they all stopped what they were doing and turned towards me but I couldn't waste another second doing anything else. I tried my best to get past them but people's hold on me made it difficult. Somehow I managed to get through eventually.

I quickly reached the reception.

"Zayn Malik! I need to see Mr Malik!"

"Perrie! He's down here!" I heard the familiar voice of Tricia who was ushering me down the corridor. I ran inside the room. It was him, my fan all this time.

"Perrie..."

"Zayn." I cried and clutched his hands tightly.

"I knew you'd come running back."

"Why would you do this to me Zayn?"

"I'm sorry Perrie. I try but I always make you cry."

"Zayn please don't leave me again."

I closed my eyes tight to stop my tears but it was no use, it seemed that every single tear left in me was flooding out right now.

"Hey hey don't close your eyes."

We looked at each other in silence, not wanting to let go. I didn't want to think about what was going to happen next. Slowly, he pressed his fingers to his lips and put them on me. Then his eyes stayed open.

"Zayn no!" I begged and shook his hands uncontrollably but he still didn't blink.

My heartbeat slipped away as the doctor closed those eyes that had started the whole thing in a classroom where I had found my love for an English teacher...

I'm extremely sorry for those who really didn't want a tragic ending. Even I'm crying :'(
