Josh's P.O.V.

As soon as Derek Vaughn realized Sophie, Austin, Valerie, and Anthony left, Vaughn and his goons left, I assume to get in their car and chase after them. Then I realized that more goons had appeared. There were about ten in total.

"Shouldn't we stop them?" Kaylie asked.

"No, it would be useless. Those men following Vaughn aren't even human, or at least I don't think they are." Phil shook his head.

"What? You're just going to let them go after Valerie and the others? Who's side on you on?" I snarled.

"I'm on your side, but I'm not risking my life to try and do something futile." Phil replied sternly.

"You're working with Vaughn, aren't you? How could you just let them go after the others? I don't know about you, but I'm going to try and stop them." I looked to the others for support and they all nodded there heads.

I was getting ready to walk out the doorway, which Vaughn's men had busted down, and leave to delay Vaughn, but Phil placed his hand on my shoulder and suddenly, I thought that it would be useless too.

"It would be useless." Phillip said.

"It would be useless..." I echoed.

"Phil, what did you just do?" Ellie asked cautiously.

"Just stopped him from making a terrible mistake. I would listen to him if I were you." Phil said viciously.

"Geez, chill out! We just want to save our friends! What's so wrong with that? You are working for Vaughn. Don't deny it. I don't even know why any of us listened to you in the frist place." Ellie was heading for the door. "Come on, guys. Let's go. Who knows when Phil will turn on us and hand us into Derek Vaughn." She walked over the threshold and disappeared down the steps.

Once Phil's fingers left my shoulder I felt the same again. Everyone was leaving the house. I followed. Why stay with someone who manipulates your thoughts?

"We need to hurry up if we're going to catch Derek and his goons." Vincent stated once we were down the steps.

"How?" I asked.

"Easy. All we need is a car, and I know where to get on from.

Soon, we had hijacked someone's car and were chasing after Derek Vaughn. He wasn't in sight but Vincent, who was driving, was positive he knew where he went.

"They headed towards Phil's hideout. I know the way there so I'll look out for the Hummer." Vincent and told us.

"What happens if Derek is already there? How will we stop him?" Annabelle asked.

"It's obvious," Brooke replied, "We just ram into them, right? I mean, there's practically nothing else we can do."

We spotted Derek Vaughn ahead of us, just as his goons righted a black Hummer.

"That isn't t-." I got cut off.

"It was." Vincent replied.

"Hurry!" Brooke cried.

Cameron was visibly anxious; he was clutching the armrest like his life depended on it.

If only I could help...I thought. If there were some water near by I would be able to do some kind of trick. If only we were quick enough... We watched in horror as Vaughn's goons dragged Sophie out of the car, followed by Austin, Anthony, and Valerie.

"Come on, Vincent! Can't you drive any faster? We need to help them!" Kaylie yelled.

"It would be useless. We can't stop him." Vincent lost hope.

"We need to try." I urged him.

He stepped on the gas pedal, pressing it down to the floor. We also made, we would've made it, but Vaughn shot a bullet in our tires. We heard the tires squeal and Vincent was forced to step on the brakes. We can to a grinding halt, just as Vaughn sped off with the others.

"We need to get them back." Annabelle said fiercely.

"Yes, I know that! But we can't do very much with just rims for tires." Vincent banged his hands on the steering wheel.

"Chill! We can get another car. We need to do it quickly, too. We can't let Vaughn get away with that." Josiah snapped.

"Where will we get another car from? I was planning on returning this, but obviously I can't. If you can get a car, go ahead and be my guest." Vincent got out of the car and inspected it. Once he came back in he looked stricken.

"What?" Brooke asked.

"There may be a slight problem, now." Vincent said.

"What?" Brooke demanded.

"The cops are coming. Someone called them. It's quite a wreck out there. There's a lot of shattered glass, broken car parts, and a broken down car. I think there might be a crash farther down the road." Vincent explained.

"Well, come one, we need to get out of here." Riley said as he hopped out of the car.

Now came the long journey of getting home, or stealing a car and finding Vaughn. Whatever we did, we had to be careful. If the police somehow found out who drove the cars, we're dead. The fun's over. Now comes the dangerous mission of staying alive and rescuing the other.
