Hope Is Where And What?

Austin's P.O.V.

As soon as I heard the screech of the wheels from their van, I knew we were done for. The goons came and grabbed us before we even had a chance to react. Riley and the others won't even know what happened to us. They were following us but were at least a mile behind. Jason told them were to meet us after they had searched around the area around the hideout.

The goons had dragged us around the building and shoved us into a cellar. As soon as we got in they closed the door on us. Polite right? Leaving us in the dark? We stumbled around the cellar until we found the light switch. The bulb was dim and flickered on and off, but it was better than no light at all. Valerie slid down the wall and pulled her legs to her chest. I assume she was scared. Anthony was pacing back and forth. He was probably worrying about Sophie and coming up with a plan to escape.

There was no point in being scared. There was no point in making a plan to escape. I resigned and took a seat on the floor and fell asleep, hoping this was a bad dream. All hope was lost and we would become slaves or prisoners of Vaughn.

Sophie's P.O.V.

I felt lost. I felt caged. I felt...lonely. Vaughn has captured me. He's tortured me to get information, but I won't give in. I'm not giving up without a fight. If I need help, I can ask Artemis.  Vaughn can't stop me.

While I was strapped to the tortuous chair in an unknown place, there was something that popped into my mind. If we're supposed to be going on a mission to remove the god from inside of us, why are we getting nowhere? All that's happened is that we've been chased by Vaughn and have gone into hiding only to be captured again. There is no way I'm going to get an answer from Phillip or anybody else, so I might as well ask Artemis how to do it. I could tell the others and then we could go on a mission by ourselves. If only some of them believe me, oh well. I'll just have to take the ones who believe me.

Vaughn came in about a day after I was captured and started interrogating me. My stomach was growling and my mouth was dry. I hadn't eaten or drank in a while. Vaughn knew I was weak and my mind wasn't in the right place, that's why he chose now to question me.

"Sophie, tell me, do you trust Phillip?" He asked, a smile playing on his lips.

I wanted to shake my head, no, but I knew I shouldn't answer.

"What information has he given you? I know someone passed him their knowledge. I know that person was powerful. I know that you now possess that knowledge. So, don't lie." When I didn't answer he pulled out his knife and stalked towards me. "Answer me, silly girl!"

"I don't know. He never told me anything about who gave him the knowledge. He just gave it to me!" My eyes were wild with fear.

"You know about the person who gave it to him! Tell me!" He snarled.

"No, I don't! I barely even have access to the knowledge." I replied.

"Sophie, you know who gave it to him. You have access to millenia of knowledge." He seemed crazy. He desperately needed this information. It's as if his life depended on it. And for all I knew, it did.

Vaughn stepped in front of me with the knife. He made one quick movement and slit my wrist. I shrieked in pain.

"It was...it was something like Zander or something! I don't remember!" I was frantic. I knew Vaughn wouldn't hesitate to kill me.

"Zandra? Zandra The Foreseer?" He asked.

"Yes, yes! That's what is was." I took the opportunity to put the situation on my favor. "You know, if you kill me, you won't get any information.
