Chapter 9 - Part Two

Sophie

Janina, Claui, and I agreed that we'll be at the Student's Lounge for break. I grabbed my notebooks and g-tec before I left the room so that hindi na ako pabalik-balik sa locker ko. I was about to leave the room then Danes stopped me for a while, "Hey, Sophie. I was thinking that if it's okay lang ba na we could be magkasama every break?", she asks. Uhm, nakakahiya naman tumanggi. But, everyday ko kasi kasama sila Jaja and Claui eh. "It's okay lang for me, kaso may kasabay ako ngayon eh. Nag-usap kasi kami ng mga co-officers.", I responded with a calm tone. Hindi naman sa tumatanggi ako, pero ayun nga, I have kasama na. "Oh, sige, okay lang din. Anytime you're free nalang.", she smiled at me. "See ya later, seatmate.", then we separated ways.

I immediately went to the Student's Lounge and saw Claui and Janina seated on the couch across the coffee table full of yearbooks as I entered. They were laughing their butts off when they saw their faces from 7th grade. I took a seat on the chair next to the table and grabbed a fitbar from my bag. The three of us were just making daldal about the happenings of how our morning went since 'di kami magkakaklase.

"Mga bes, share lang.", I spoke. "Yeah, sure. What is it?", Janina asked as she was flipping through the pages of the yearbook. "Uh, there's this girl in my class, who happens to be my seatmate, asked me if pwede ba daw kami magsabay every break.", I spoke.

"Oh? Ba't di mo sinama? What's her name?", Janina asked.

"I told her na may kasama ako ngayong break, then she told me na we'll go together anytime nalang. Oh, her name is Danielle Torres. Others call her -", I was cut off by Claui, who almost spitted the drink she was gulping.

"Danes. Yeah, people call her Danes.", she sounded serious.

"Uhm, I think I'm not supposed to say this but who cares,", Claui stood up and roamed around the room, making kwento.

"Danielle and Donny dated for about 4 months, they really looked good together, Donny was so ma-effort but nung patagal na ng patagal, parang nawawalan na siya ng gana. And that was when he asked Danielle to be his girlfriend, she told him na they're better off as friends. It really hurts kasi ako din, as his cousin, nasaktan din ako. Minsan na nga lang umibig si Dodong, nasapul pa.", she added.

Damn, so bale, may feelings na si Donny pero si Danes, kaibigan lang tingin sa kanya.

I was frowning the whole time Claui was telling us that story. Bakit ngayon ko lang nalaman 'to. Lol.

"Then Donny became so moody, he had a hard time to focus on his studies, and he lost his spot sa honors."

"Plus, I heard that si Danes na daw ang naghahabol ngayon.", Janina blurted.

"Uhm, but are you guys friends with her?", I asked.

"I don't know, we didn't talk na after that.", Claudia said.

"Haven't heard from her ever since that happened.", Janina said, while eating sour tapes.

If I were in Danes shoes, I'd never let that happen.

Donny

I was just strolling around the campus with Chris to kill some time. We were just talking about stuffs, then he mentioned Danielle.

"How are things with you after that thing with Danes?", he asked

"Well, I feel like I was dead, you know? After giving my all, 'di pa rin sapat.", I looked down.

"Daan nalang natin yan sa basketball, pre. To be honest with you, man. Mas gumaling ka ever since 'di na kayo nagsama.", he patted my back. "You deserve better."

I really am better off without her.
