Chapter 21

Sophie

"Okay, class. I want you to write a reflection of what you learned from today's lecture. Pass it to the front in 10 minutes.", sigh, today's lesson was really not that entertaining at all. I was just staring at the whiteboard, labas sa kabilang tenga lahat ng narinig ko. I yawned with my hands covering my mouth then turned around to grab my big arse envelope behind my chair, and I saw Donny looking at me with a weak smile as I did. I turned around immediately to write, but I can't focus. My mind still pictures him and Janina together. And I've noticed, Donny and I never shared an actual conversation in class. Oh well, I haven't talked to him after the meeting for school fair, and I don't know why but, bakit parang 'di ko siya kayang kausapin? Is it because I like him? I'm afraid that I might give meaning to what he's gonna say? Sigh, whatever.

Donny

There's this lame reaction paper for our Social Science class, and I was really out of my mind considering the fact that I can't sleep last night because of what Benj and I talked about. Yawn. I saw Sophie turned around then she looked at me, and I gave her a weak smile as she did the same. How come we never talked in class? Maybe it's because we have other people to talk to or whatever, hmm. And I haven't heard from her after our meeting, I'll try to talk to her later. "5 minutes left, class.", Mr. Portes, our SS teacher, announced. I took a deep breath and started to write whatever it is that I learned, but still, tulala. "Bro, focus.", Chris bumped my shoulder as I gave him a smirk. "I'll talk to you later, okay?", he patted my back as we both started writing, then we passed our papers in front.

12:13 PM

Lunch time came, I walked to Claui since she was at her locker then just talked about stuffs. "Hey, Claui. I need you later at the SCB room-okay see you later.", Sophie calmly said something to Claui then she sounded kind of kabado and parang nagmadali siya when our eyes met, then she left agad. "Is Sophie okay? Ba't parang she seemed uncomfortable when she saw me?", not assuming but ganun yung napansin ko. "I-I have no idea, maybe she's really busy kaya naging ganun reaction niya?", Claui said, and I just shrugged. After hanging with Claui for a while, I walked to the our school canteen to meet up with Chris.

I entered the canteen then immediately went to our usual spot, nearly in the middle. I took a seat beside Chris, who's drinking C2 and reading his Chemistry textbook. "Oh, hey man.", he greeted while I just raised both of my eyebrows at him. "So, what are we gonna talk about?", the moment that I asked Chris something, my phone vibrated. I grabbed it from my pocket then saw a text message saying:

Josh

If you think that I was slurring on my words last night, not making any sense, you thought wrong. It's not for me, Donny. It's for her and for you as well. I want you to be happy together. :)

I just stared at my phone, not knowing what to reply. "I knew it.", I forgot that I was seated next to Chris. "Why don't you make a move already, man?", I just looked at him, not knowing what to say. "I-I don't know, man. Baka mamaya iba pala gusto niya.", I looked down on my shoes while taking a deep breath. "I told you magkakabaliktad din lahat ng sinabi mo. Since first day, Donny. Ramdam ko na.", he chuckled while hitting my shoulder playfully. "Kinain ko din mga sinabi kong hindi mangyayari yun, but it eventually did." (disclaimer: if naalala niyo yung pinagusapan ni Donny and Chris sa chapter 9, then booyah heto na hihi) "Some things are better unexpected, you know.", nudging my shoulder, I just smiled at him. "And you'll never know if you never try."

3:36 PM

"What? You've got to be kidding me.", I reacted after Janina had a suggestion about me performing on our school fair. We're here at Hans' condo just near the school after basketball training to talk about my performance. "Seriously, while wearing a onesie?", Chris and Hans started laughing their butts off and I just can't seem to chill. "It's a good idea, bro. Naka-hoodie naman yun so 'di ka ganun ka-exposed.", Hans mimicked as I took a seat. "C'mon, Donny. Ang cute kaya! Matutuwa si Sophie, promise.", Janina said, while laughing. I was just half-smiling the whole time we were at Hans' place, then something bugged me.

Sophie. How come we never spoke again after the meeting?

I was at the SBC room with Claui, just arranging the line up for the school fair. There are only 2 weeks left for the fair, and we have to make the most of out. "Where's Janina, by the way?", Claui asked while typing the the names of the presidents and sports representatives. "I don't know, ask her.", I replied coldly. "C'mon, Soph. Are you still holding a grudge on her? Wala yun, promise.", Claui assured me. "Donny noticed that you seemed uneasy nung nakita mo siya kanina when you told me something.", what is wrong with me ba? "Oh, really? What did you tell him?", I asked. "Sabi ko stressed ka lang kaya ganun yung napakita mo.", wooh thang goodness sa palusot. "Buti 'di mo sinabi na 'di ko pa siya kayang kausapin.", I bit my lip after saying that. "Sophie, 'di yun nangangain ng tao.", she stopped typing then sat next to me. "You're lucky nga kasi bihira lang yun magpakilala ng girl sa parents niya, tapos ikaw pa yung pinakilala niya kela Tito and Tita. Diba sabi ko hindi yun naghahatid sundo na kaibigan lang tingin niya sa taong yun?", I just froze after Claui told me something. "Hindi lang yun nagsasabi, pero gusto ka din nun.", I just sighed, ayokong umasa. "SoNy for the win, gurlalu.", she bumped my shoulder which made me roll my eyes at her.

SoNy? I like it.
