Say You Won't Let Go (Donny Pangilinan)

Chapter 7

Sophie

"Subukan mo, Sandoval. Magkalimutan tayo.", the words I just witnessed made me weak to my knees as Donny sent Josh a death glare. I didn't see this one coming, oh my gosh nakakahiya.

I bent down and picked up the book Josh dropped after he walked out on us then handed it to Claui, "What a turd! Siya pa rin ba yung Josh na nagustuhan mo, Sophie? I thought he was sweet, pero ba't parang naging possessive?", she was annoyed and I tried to clam her down. Mas galit pa siya kesa sa akin. "Sorry, pero nakakagago eh.", she said. "Let's forget about it, Claui. Umuwi na tayo."

Claui excused herself to go to the comfort room for a while then I walked towards Donny, I just wanted to thank him for being around. If it wasn't for him, digmaan na ata abot namin dito tapos first day pa lang.

Donny was facing the gate, his fists were clenched as his knuckles were turning white, hay. He's creepy, okay. Uhm, paano ba? Sophie, tao lang din 'yan, 'wag ka mahiya. Okay, ito na.

"Hey, uhm, I just want to thank you for standing up for me and Claui earlier. I'm sorry if nakaabala pa kami.", I began to speak and then he turned around to face me. He started loosening his clenched fists, then I saw how he tried to calm himself down.

WAIT LANG, FRIENNY. Siya yung kausap ni Claui kanina nung recess time, si kuyang matangkad! Wait, siya din yung nasa comp. lab kanina. Bakit ang bilis mo makalimot, Sophie?

"It's alright, don't worry. I'm really sorry for him, 'di ko alam kung bakit siya nagkaganyan.", the calmness of his voice made me lighten up a little bit sa pagiging kabado kong kausapin siya.

"I'm sorry nadamay ka pa.", I said. Nakakahiya naman kasi, tsaka siya yung nag-defend sa akin mula kaninang umaga pa.

"No, it's fine, really.", he smirks, "One of the things I hate the most is when a guy hurts a girl, gusto mo resbakan ko?"

I looked at him, but he returned his gaze at the gate. But why, bakit ikaw pa?

Donny

"No, it's fine, really.", I smiled. "One of the things I hate the most is when a guy hurts a girl, gusto mo resbakan ko?", I added. It's true, I hate it. I was really surprised when Josh did that. Yes, alam ko naman na miss niya na si Sophie, pero nagmukha na siyang possessive.

"No, no, please.", I was about to go to the gate but then she softly grabbed me by my arms. "Let him be. It's his loss, not mine.", she looked at me with an "okay lang" face, teka lang bes medyo parang na-electrified ako nung hinawakan niya ako.

There was an awkward silence between us then Claui called us from her direction, "Mga bes, it's already late. Let's go home na. Kuya Manny is here na." (I forgot to mention Donny's driver on the previous chapter so ito na) Claui is so conyo, my goodness.

I checked my watch, it's already quarter to 6 pm. I looked at Sophie, using her phone, texting someone, I guess? Then I asked, "Do you need a ride home?", it's kinda late na. Delikado na if she'll commute at this time. "I'm good, thank you sa offer.", she smiled. My phone vibrated, then I saw that I got a text from Claui saying:

"Tell Sophie that we'll drop her off sa kanila. Her mom texted me, I told kuya Manny na. Lezzgo xo" - Oh, diba? Conyo talaga.

"Claui texted me, she said that your mom sent her a message na sumabay ka na lang daw sa amin. I insist, delikado na if you'll commute.", I noticed na nahihiya siya. Is it because of me? I don't bite. :( "Hala, nakakahiya tuloy. Okay, let's go na po.", she finally gave in. Dang, ang cute niya.

Sophie

Claui and Donny offered me a ride home, I was supposed to make tanggi (sorry conyo), but they insisted. Nag-text din pala si mamshie kay Claui, so ayun. The ride was silent for about 5 minutes then Donny spoke, "Where do you live, Sophie?"

"Verdana Homes Mamplasan, how about you?", I responded, shyly.

"Ah, doon lang pala. Dons, same village lang  pala sa atin pati kay Danielle?", then kuya Manny asked. Danielle? Who's Danielle?

"Yes, kuya Manny.", I looked at Donny, then he replied with a cold voice, then ran his fingers through his hair while leaning on the window.

After 10 minutes, we arrived at the village gate then diretso na kami papunta sa amin since dito din pala sila Donny. Medyo malapit lang naman house ko from the gate so ayun. We reached my house and I thanked kuya Manny for the ride. I was about to talk to Claui but she was asleep. Donny went out next to the driver's seat then slides the door open for me.

"I'll help you na with your things.", my gosh. Ang bait niya. So yun, I let him help me.

While we were walking towards the gate of my house, there was this dead air again. Pero bes, sobra na yung help niya for today.

"Hey, I really want to thank you again. Sobra na yung nagawa mo sa akin ngayon, kahit ngayon lang tayo nakapag-usap? But still, thank you kasi gumaan na agad loob ko sa'yo.", wow Sophie, naririnig mo ba yung mga pinagsasabi mo? Kenekeleg ke leng eh, neke pe.

"It's no big deal, I just wanted to help. I hope this won't be the last time we'll talk?", bes we got the whole school year! Char, maharot.

"Hopefully, hehe. So ayun, goodnight, thank you talaga. Tell kuya Manny and Claui na I said thank you din, ingat kayo.", I didn't even notice that I was smiling the whole time were talking.

"Will do, Sophie. Goodnight.", Donny said as I unlocked the gates then went our front door. As I was about to unlock the door, lumingon ako for the last time then I saw him standing there, smiling at me. I waved him goodbye then he winked at me.

BESHIE, ANUNAH?

Pero one thing is bothering me, who's Danielle?
