Even though I had planned the date, Scott insisted on picking me up, saying he'd always wanted to do that.
At 7 o'clock, he was standing at my door, ringing the doorbell. My parents thankfully weren't home, or I would have a huge problem now. But they weren't, so I ran down the stairs, excited for the night. I opened the door, looking at the most gorgeous boy I had ever seen. Underneath a dark navy jacket, he was wearing a light blue shirt which made the color of his eyes pop. He had also styled his hair differently this time, his blonde waves swept to the side rather than in a quiff. He looked fancy.
"You look gorgeous, baby," I said as I leaned in for a kiss, but he stopped me with a finger on my lips.
"Uh-uh." He shook his head with a smile. "This is our first date. Have you ever kissed someone on the first date- no, even before the first date?"
I chuckled. "Are you kidding? I want to kiss you!"
He sighed playfully, running his fingers through his hair. "Okay, fine. I guess one kiss is fine." He leaned in and pressed his warm, soft lips against mine and I enjoyed every second of it. His lips were made to be kissed, and it was driving me insane.
"Or two," I said and kissed him again, this time more heatedly. My hands were on his collar and I pulled him closer, kissing him passionately. I tilted my head to the side, nibbling on his lower lip before pulling away again. I smiled, satisfied with the faint blush on Scott's face.
"Okay," he cleared his throat, intertwining our fingers. "Are you ready?"
I nodded. "Let's go."
I locked the door and we walked to the other side of the street where Scott had parked his Chevy. I was a bit confused when he walked to the passenger side at first but smiled when I realized he was holding the door open for me to get in. What a gentleman.
The ride to the restaurant I had chosen went by in comfortable silence. This was one of the many perks of dating Scott - you never felt forced to say anything, nor was the silence ever awkward. He felt like home, he was home, and he was the best thing that's ever happened to me.
But Scott was the first one to break the silence. Still, the beautiful, slightly gravelly sound of his voice was worth it.
"I'm excited," he said as the car came to a halt at a red light. "And nervous. It's our first date."
He smiled at me from the driver's seat and I couldn't help but smile back. His smile was contagious. When he was smiling, his whole face lit up and it was the most beautiful thing one could've ever witnessed.
"Me too," I agreed. "I hope you like the place. I already told you not to eat too much and dress fancy so I guess it's obvious we're going to a restaurant."
"Damn, I thought we were going to a water park," he laughed. "I'm sure I'll love it. As long as I'm with you."
I hoped he couldn't see my blushing face. "You can be so gay sometimes," I said, distracting from my heating cheeks.
At that, Scott giggled again. "Well, technically I'm pan-"
"You know exactly I'd shut you up with a kiss right now," I said smiling. He was such an idiot sometimes. But those moments were the reasons I loved him so much.
I told him to stop in front of the fancy restaurant and watched in amusement as his eyes widened at the realization.
"T-that's the restaurant?" He gestured weakly to the building and I nodded, smiling.
"Five star restaurant, yes, that's it."
"A-are you sure?"
"Of course, baby. It's a special occasion."
