Swinging my backpack over my shoulder, I tiptoed my way out slowly until I reached the front door downstairs. The house was quiet I had to walk real slowly to avoid making any noises. After a few minutes, I’d finally reached outside. The gate was locked, Todd had been told to lock it every night so I had to jump over the fences instead - painfully, but it was worth it.
I walked down the streets with both hands in my pockets through the dark and cold night. Took me a few minutes until I’d finally reached the park. From where I was standing under a streetlight, I saw Alex sitting on the swing, lost in his thought. Sucking in a deep breath, I started making my way towards him.
“Camila,” He got up when I was approaching.
“Hi,” I smiled. “How long have you been here?”
“Uh, not so long,” He said. “Just a few minutes.”
I nodded my head, looking around us as the silence ensued.
“Uh, let’s go for a walk,” He broke it.
“To where?”
“My place.”
-----------------
I’d seen the building before, sure I did. We walked through the alley in the middle of the night, I had no idea why I was still staying. Usually this would’ve scared me so bad. “Is this…”
“Yeah, I live here,” Alex muttered, looking up. We arrived in front of a steel door and I watched as he unlocked it. “Come in.”
I nodded, stepping my feet inside. The room was dark, there was no lights on. As much as I loved being with Alex, this still sent a chill down my spine. I looked around it thoroughly. It was not an apartment, that was for sure. It was more like an abandoned building. I’d wondered if Alex really lived here or could he be lying?
“Are you coming?” Alex called out as he stood in front of me.
“Y-yeah, sure.” I followed his steps. He brought me to the other side of the building, then finally stopped. In front of me was a huge area, filled with a little bit of furniture. On my left, there was a stove, an old cupboard that looked like it would break into pieces anytime, and a small dining table with two chairs. I saw it on my left - two white mattress with blankets on top of it, a bunch of stuff I didn’t get to see what it was.
Alex had plopped himself down on the dining table as my thoughts snapped out. “Welcome to my crib, Camila,” He chuckled to himself, shaking his head. “Who am I kidding? Acting as if I’m the perfect boy, living in an apartment while I-”
“Alex,” I slowly walked towards him, sitting down on the other chair across him. “Why did you lie to me? About you?”
He glanced at me for a while before he sighed, looking down on his feet. “I’m sorry, Camila. I’m not what you thought. I don’t live in the apartment you stayed that night, it was my friend’s. This is where I live, where I’m from and where I spend my day everyday,” He looked up and smirked. “I thought I could play the perfect role for a while. I can’t, Camila. I’m just a piece of shit. Now that you know who I am, you can just.. I don’t know, stay the hell away from me.”
“Shhh,” I grabbed his hands, holding in gently. “Don’t say that. I don’t care who you are, just-”
“Really, Camila?” He shook my hands off, making me flinch. “Because no one, ever wanted to stay after they found out who’s the real me! No one, and I don’t expect you to either. So stop saying crap like you cared about me because that’s just bullshit. God knows what you could be talking about me to your friends behind my back..”
