The morning was as assured as the tides and just as unstoppable

The morning was as assured as the tides and just as unstoppable. When I woke up that day, I thought I needed a few more hours of blackness. Not to sleep, but to prepared, to pour my thoughts out onto a page, reorganize, prioritize and pack them back in again. But  I thought about all the chaos that was already crashed upon my life, so there really was no point. That day there was a plan and I couldn’t afford to mess it up. It had taken so long to craft, I had lived the secret for years long now. It was time for me to break it apart. Not just for the sake of my inner peace, but most importantly Rhea.

The smells of Omelette pierced into my nose as I got out of my bedroom with a new clothes, walking towards the kitchen where Mrs. Mahone was flipping the pan on the stove. “Good morning,” I greeted as I plopped myself down on the stool.

Michele smiled and turned off the stove. “Morning, sweety.”

“Michele, do you mind if I leave Rhea with you and Austin for just a few hours?” I blurted out the question I had been keeping in my mind since I woke up. “There's an emergency business meeting I have to attend. I really appreciate it if you can look after Rhea for me for a few hours.”

“Oh dear, of course,” she said. “I'd be glad to.”

“Thank-”

“Now, are we really going to business meeting on a family holiday?”

I felt a hands wrapped around my waist before a kiss landed on my head. I shifted my seat and avoided his gaze. “Um, yeah it's an emergency. You don't mind looking after Rhea for a while, would you?”

“No,” He looked at me and sat down on the stool on my right. “Just- do you really have to go? It's her birthday last night and you're leaving her the next morning.”

“Don't make it sounds like you were always there on her best or worse days, Austin,” I clenched my fist and got up from the stool to grabbed a milk from the fridge. I didn't want to argue in front of his mom and I hoped she wasn't listening to us.

“I'm thinking to do some grocery shopping today,” Michele cut off our cold exchanged glares as she placed a few empty plates on the table. “Austin, you're driving me there. Maybe we can bring Rhea to get some new toys too.”
