I had never felt regret more than anything in my life. The sun was hot in Cali as I stepped on my feet from the private jet. It was hot, and I decided to wear a long-sleeve denim jacket with a black leather tight.
Seriously, what was I thinking?
"Welcome home, Miss," a few man in black suits came to greet me as I dragged my luggage onto the concrete. I smiled at them as they gestured me towards the black Rover, waiting for me outside of the gate.
Californa - my second home after Cuba- a place where my parents decided to lived in. It felt so good to finally be back after a few years of studying in London even though I'd missed my friends there already. But to be home with my family and friends here, it was worth it. There was honestly so much things to do I'd had in my mind, and I couldn't wait.
As the Rover drove on the road, passing along a familiar views, I watched in joy. Not much had changed since I left, but I noticed there was a few new stores lining up along the other old buildings - reminded me to pay them a visit later. I didn't even realized it that the car had stopped a few minutes later in front of a white mansion - my home.
I grinned excitedly as I hopped out of the car, watching my home from afar. Other than the outdoor paint used to be grey and now it was milky white, nothing had changed that much. I let the mens handled with my luggages while I just went straight towards the house.
"Mama, I'm home!" I shrieked, dancing around the room as the mens dragged my luggage inside.
"Calm down, Mila, everyone knows you're home," My step-sister from another mother, Lauren, climbed down the stairs with her Pj's still on. To be honest, Lauren wasn't really a fan of me no matter how hard I tried to make our relationship works. There was nothing I could to do to mark my name off of her 'People I hate' list.
And since I got tired of trying, I decided to ignore her bad vibes and focused on the good one instead -though I wasn't sure if she had any. I threw my arms around her and spun around as I screamed, "I miss youuu!"
She didn't hug me back, but didn't push me away either so that was a good thing I guessed. "Ew, get off of me! Why are you wearing a thick jacket in the heat anyways?"
I grinned sheepishly. "I thought it isn't that hot."
"Of course you thought that," She plopped herself down on the couch. I was about to join her when I saw my mom walking out from the hallway. "Mama!!" I hurriedly threw myself on her.
"Oh, mi hermosa hija! (My beautiful daughter)" She said, pinching me in the cheeks. "How are you, sweety?"
"I'm fine ma. How are you?"
"As fine as you can see," she smiled. "Oh, the dinner is coming. Why don't you have a talk with your sister while I see the kitchen?"
Yeah, because that's not a bad idea. I just grinned and nodded my head. Since there was nothing else to do, I walked towards the living room and plopped myself down on a sofa across Lauren. "How are you?"
She didn't look up from her phone when she answered, "Not as bad."
"How's Dorita?"
Dorita was her - actually mine, but since I left Cali for a few years, the puppy have turned on her hand, which I didn't really mind 'cause I know Lauren can take care good of any pets.
"She's in the Vet right now for her medical checkup," she said. "Other than that, she's fine."
I bit my lips and nodded. "So, where do you think I'll study at?"
"Unfortunately at mine," She sighed and looked up to me. "Why do you ask so much? Just go do something else."
Thinking that it wasn't such a bad idea, I got up from the couch and went to the kitchen to see what we were going to have for dinner.
♡♡
"CAMILA!"
"Ahhhh!" I screamed excitedly and walked over where two of my best friends - Ally and Dinah, stepped inside of my bedroom. "I miss you guys so much!"
After we had the dinner earlier, I decided to call my best friends since childhood to come over my house. I still can hear their excited screams when I told them that I had landed in Cali.
"Girl, you have no idea how much we missed you!" Dinah said, releasing our hug. "How's everything going?"
I grinned and gestured them to take a seat on my bed. "Well, so far everything's cool, I guess. I mean, other than Lauren's still not welcoming me here, everything's cool."
Ally stroked my arms. "Just ignore her, okay? I'm pretty sure you can survive without her."
"Yeah," I let out a sigh. "But I just wish we can sort everything out between us. We've been like.. frenemies, since I could remember."
"Don't worry," Dinah said. "We got you. Anyways, do you know where you'll be studying at?"
I replied a text on my phone before I looked up. "Well yeah, Lauren said I'll be with her."
"Really?" Ally asked. "That means you'll be in a private school then. Urgh, I wish we could go to the same school."
"Ally, we can never go to private school, you know," Dinah said.
"Guys, it's not like there is a difference between private and public," I said, trying to stop them from talking about it. "Trust me, public school is better. There's just too much rules in private one."
Ally and Dinah just smiled, though I knew they faked it. "Okay, okay!" I clapped my hands together. "Now who wants some movies?!"
Ally and Dinah grinned. "We're on it! Horror, please."
I clapped my hands. "Good, 'cause we better do something."
Later that night, we watched a horror movie that got us screamed once in a while. It was hilarious, especially to see Ally chose to hide behind Dinah and me everytime there was about to be a scary scene. I didn't even know when or how, but we ended up sleeping together on the couch while the movie was still playing on the big screen.

Okay the first few chapters might be a bit boring, but I promise it'll get better. ;)
