I looked up at my reflection in the mirror, seeing all the details I had put on me to make sure it looks good. I had curled my dark locks that always danced in between a black and brown, so that they hung in more waves than curls. My olive skin was brushed with makeups and blush to bring out the sharp structure on my bones and I wore a soft pink shade on my thin lips. And along my body was a white strapless satin dress that reached my lower thighs, clutching my body in a way that was elegant but feminine. The top of the dress ran straight across my chest, then at the top of my waist it tightened to the curves. I had placed on a pair of simple white heels, that shone as a mirror in the white light.
Everything was done, except the zip on my dress’ back was still wide open. I stretched my arms a bit harder on the back to try and pull the zip up, but I gave up after my arms felt like they were going to be ripped off of my body. Sighing, I was just about to turn around towards the closet when Austin had came up from behind me, blocking my way.
He appeared before me, in all his grandeur. A tailored black suit with a charming red tie. His chiseled jaw lifted with a sheepish grin, his green eyes sparkling as they met a pair of my brown’s. “Need a hand?”
“Sure,” I shrugged, turning my back around so he could lend me some help. My skin tingled at the touch of his hands while he zipped my dress up but I knocked myself some sense in my head before I could go too far. I cleared my throat, thanked him and fixed my curls for the last time before I went to grab my purse on the nightstand. “Should we go now?”
Austin pursed his lips and motioned his hands towards the door. “Ladies, first.”
I couldn’t help but smile as I walked pass him and went straight towards the living room where I found Rhea sitting on the bed with Poppy, watching a cartoon on Nickelodeon. “Hi, sweetheart! Are you all ready?”
She jumped up on the couch and clasped her hands together, nodding her head excitedly. “I am ready! Are we going now?”
I giggled and fixed her loosened hair clips back to its place before I held her in my arms. “Yes, we are. You look so beautiful tonight, Rhea.”
“I agree,” Austin opened the front door for us, I stood there smiling. “Don’t you and mommy look so beautiful tonight? I think I may have a little trouble choosing my favourite.”
Rhea let out a soft chuckle before she grabbed Austin’s hands and made him bent down. “Well, tell me who is your favourite? I promise I won’t tell mommy!”
I grinned widely at her attempt on trying to hide it from me. When she turned around to me, I looked up towards the chandelier and pretended like I didn’t know a thing.
“Well,” Austin whispered, just enough for me to hear. “Of course you are my favourite. But hey, you didn’t hear that from me. Alright, lady?”
“Yes,” Rhea held out her tiny pinky finger and tied it up around Austin’s. “Promise!”
“Good girl,” Austin fixed her loosened hair clips once again before he got up, winking at me as he grabbed Rhea by the hand and walked out of our apartment. I smiled softly to myself before I walked away, following their steps from behind.

The two-story building restaurant was packed as we made our way towards the entrance. Rich men and women in their expensive tailored suits sat around each other with a glass of wine, giggles escaping their lips once in a while. The half a dozen customers glanced up as the door swung open, heralded by a blast of cold wind. We made our way straight towards the receptionist desk and the customers returned to their conversations as the door swung closed behind the new entrant and the cold breeze was forgotten.
