Leon wandered through the courtyard. The marble columns cast shadows over where he and Edward had fought.
The courtyard was almost dead still, apart from a few birds chirping on top of the roofs.
Leon briefly glanced at them. Their song of chirping was relaxing and made him forget that not long ago this same place had been where he fought for his life against Edward.
The birds weren't in the slightest bothered by Leon's presence. They had noticed him and for a brief moment some stared at him, intrigued by the young Magic in their presence.
After a moment of staring one bird slowly fluttered down to Leon. It was a small rainbow finch.
Leon raised his right arm and outstretched his index finger. The small bird landed gracefully on his finger. Its tiny head glanced around a bit and then it met Leon's eyes.
Leon didn't know how but it was as if the bird was staring into his heart. It could sense everything about him. After a moment Leon realized that the bird was a Rainbow Finch.
The bird tweeted softly as if talking to Leon. He stood envious of all its colours. It was a beautiful bird and Leon couldn't help but wish that all the people in the world were more like this one little Finch, trusting and caring. Leon's eyes drifted over to the Finches family, all of them so beautiful with different colours.
'This worlds full of wonderful things like you' Leon smiled. 'Full of beauty and colours and diversity, I just wish we could all stick together and except each other like the beautiful colours on your feathers. Maybe then we could all fly free like a bird.'
The finches jumped up and down, it seemed happy. It warmed Leon's heart to see such a creature.
Slowly and gently he stroked the birds head with the index finger of his left hand.
The bird gave a smile. Not a typical smile but it closed its eyes and lifted its head. It looked so happy and beautiful.
'Well little bird you better go back to your family.' Leon whispered gently.
The Finch tweeted one last time and rubbed its head against Leon's finger to say goodbye then it flew off back to its family and then they flew away. The bell sound chimed at the exact time Leon needed so that the birds wouldn't fly away. Or perhaps the birds knew what time it would go and so they just left.
People began to move out the doors, rushing the first few clear of a crowd then the doors just seemed to spew out people.
Leon's eyes scanned the crowd but he was unable to find even one of his friends. He did however see a poster put up next to the doors entrance. Out of curiosity he dodged people in the crowd and managed to reach the poster.
There was a woman and a man on the poster, they were dancing. Leon had dismissed the writing on the poster but the picture made him feel as though he had to read at it.
"SCHOOL BALL." It read.Leon continued to stare and scan over the poster. Leon suddenly felt a hand on his shoulder. Leon turned around and found Blaine.
'You going to ask Alexandra to that?' Blaine asked smirking.
Leon blushed and felt himself go warm. 'Wha-what makes you think I would do that?' He asked loudly and nervously.
'Because you and her have something going on!' Blaine joked winking with a half smirk on his face.
'I'm um, I uhh...' Leon stumbled over his own words.
'Just think about it is all I'm saying. I know I'm going to ask Kelly.'
As Blaine mentioned Kelly she appeared through the door.
'Ohh hey Kelly I was thinking you and I could-' Kelly cut Blaine off.
'You and I are going to the dance together.' She demanded.
'Well that went better than expected.' Blaine laughed.
'You can pick me up next Thursday night at my dorm. Ohh by the way Leon Alexandra will be out in five wait here and you can ask her to go too.' Kelly said with a wink.
Leon glanced away shyly.
'It amazes me. He can run headfirst into a death match but he turns into a shy little boy when it comes to talking to girls.' Kelly laughed as her and Blaine walked away.
Leon waited by the door until finally most of the people had gone and Alexandra walked out cradling her books in her arms.
Leon gathered up all his courage, took a deep breath and walked confidently over to her.
'Hey Alexandra?' He asked.
Alexandra turned and smiled at Leon. 'What is it Leon?' she asked.
Leon could feel all his courage melt away as he became nervous.
'Well I was um uh wondering if you would um come to the dance with me.'
Alexandra blushed too. 'I'd love to' She smiled.
Leon felt a flush of relief run through him and he almost let out a sigh to release all the tension that had been in the air around them.
'Come pick up at my dorm.' Alexandra said shyly. 'I'll wear something pretty so you wear something nice to.' She said smiling. The next week seemed to travel slowly. Classes seemed to drag on with the anticipation for the school dance.
Leon was both nervous and exited for the dance at the same time. He looked through all his clothes in order to find something suitable to wear before the dance. Most was just ordinary day clothes but finally he found something that looked somewhat fancy. There were long dark navy blue pants, a dark navy blue jacket and a white long sleeved shirt.
'Where did these come from' Leon asked himself. 'I don't remember owning any blue clothes...'.
Leon looked through allot of his other clothes including the ones he had dismissed and he realise that there was allot of different shades of blue on his clothes.
'Could they be changing because of my magic . . .? no that's silly.' He laughed.
Finally it was the night of the school dance. The whole island was bustling with energy, smiles on student's faces and many fancy clothes and jewelry. Some paper lanterns lay off tree branches in the forest giving the path way a warm orange glow.
Leon was still with Collin in his room. The warm glow from outside illuminated the room with a soft light that Leon felt was rather pleasant.
Both Leon and Collin were ready to go.
'So who are you going with?' Leon asked.
Collin looked down at his hands as he fidgeted with his fingers nervously. 'I didn't find anyone, but no gal can resist a good looking Irishman like me-self.' He joked.
'Well is there anything we are forgetting?' Leon asked.
'Nothing I'm forgetting, how about you?'
'Nope, I even have this.' Leon pulled out a small blue flower with streaks of gold that seemed to swirl into the center. 'It's for Alexandra; do you think she'll like it?'
'I think she'll love it.' Collin said smiling. 'But we had better get going, we don't want to be late.'
'Your right, its already pretty late and I have to get to the other side of the island.' Leon laughed.
The pair climbed down from the giant maze of tree houses and down onto the ground.
Leon felt very nervous but something told him that the night would end well.
