Ricks room was next to Leon’s.
In the mornings Rick was always up earlier than Leona and leaving early to study at the school’s library. In the mornings Rick would knock on Leon’s door loudly which woke him up almost instantly.
Even though he had a new friend in his dorm Leon’s mornings weren’t very different apart from the wake up knock.
Despite the small amount of social contact Leon still found that Rick wasn’t bad company.
When Leon reached the school he found his friends standing in the middle of the courtyard talking to Erikson.
‘What’s up everyone?’ He asked.
A few of Leon’s friend turned to him and he hugged Alexandra good morning then Erikson spoke.
‘Leon I want you to come to my office at lunch time.’
‘Have I done something wrong?’ Leon asked concerned.
‘No it’s quiet alright but I do need to have a conversation with you about your powers.’
‘Ok well that’s no problem then.’ Leon smiled.
‘Good I’ll see you then.’ He said walking off.
‘I wonder why he was so serious.’ Leon sighed.
‘He’s probably just worried about your control over your abilities.’ Alexandra said.
‘They are quiet unpredictable.’ Collin added.
‘That’s true.’ Leon admitted.
The lunch break approached quickly and Leon quickly found Erikson’s office.
The office was small but the layout of the furniture made the room seem much larger than what it actually was.
The walls to the left and right were covered by wooden bookshelves, although there weren’t a great deal of books. Opposite to Leon was a large wooden desk that contained on the surface a large pile of paper and a few pens.
There was a small leather seat in front of the desk and a large one behind it.
‘Ah good you’re here Leon.’ Erikson said as he walked through the door behind Leon.
‘Take a seat Leon we need to have a talk.’
Erikson walked behind his desk and sat on his large leather seat and Leon sat down on the one in front of him.
‘Is this about my powers?’ Leon asked suddenly.
Erikson wasn’t caught off guard by Leon’s question.
‘Yes it is.’
‘What is it about them sir?’
‘It’s the unpredictability of your powers. They haven’t even shown in the slightest since the battle with Malqua and I’m concerned because of between your fight with Edward and Malqua it seemed that your power grew.’
‘But I don’t have any powers at the moment sir.’
‘That’s exactly my point. If in the small amount of time between those two battles and the growth of your power I can’t imagine the amount it’s grown by in these last few months. It’s about time you learned how to use your powers, how to unlock them at will.’
‘But how can we do that.’
‘With training, every day during your lunch break I will teach you how to break the seal on your powers and control them.’
‘So you will teach me personally?’
‘Not just you. I will be teaching both you and Rick how to use your powers.’
‘You mean he can’t use magic either?’
‘Not in the same way that you can’t. Physically you appear to have absolutely no mana in your body at all, whereas Rick has a clear level of mana but is unable to use any of it a form a proper flow of magic.’
‘How do you know all of this sir?’
‘I’ve seen your fights and Rick came to me after one of his practical magic lessons to present me with this problem and so tomorrow at lunch break both you and Rick will meet me in the courtyard and I will take you out to the field where you battled Malqua and I will train the two of you.’At the same time on the next day Leon and Rick met Erikson on the field where they had battled Malqua. Leon had decided to wear his Blank cloak to train it, both times he had become a Magic his cloak had materialised when his powers manifested so he figured it was better to get some practice in while wearing it so that way actual fighting would be easier in it.
Rick also wore his Blank outfit. The two looked incredibly similar.
‘Good you’re both here.’ Erikson said.
Leon could tell by the tone in Erikson’s voice that he was being serious.
‘First I want to establish a few facts. Leon you know how to use magic and basic to intermediate spells correct?’
‘Correct.’ Leon replied.
‘And Rick you have no knowledge of how to actually use magic?’
‘No, I’ve studied magic for years but no matter how hard I try I can’t seem to get my magic to work.’
‘It sounds like you have no way to access the flow of your mana.’ Leon said.
‘Absolutely correct, good observation Leon.’ Erikson complemented.
‘Thanks sir.’
‘Now that I know this I know exactly how to train you. We’re going to start with physical exercises. Mana responds to our will best with intense emotions like stress, fear or anger. I want both of you to work together to land a hit on me right here.’ Erikson said pointing to the centre of his chest.
‘Sir if you’ll excuse my scepticism of this idea but it’s two against one and I know martial arts.’ Leon said.
‘Well if you’re so confident then maybe I’ll fight back.’ Erikson said with a smirk.
Leon nodded at Rick and they charged.
