This chapter is made for my dear friends Wade's (Areosg) 16th birthday and Kayla's (n0vat1ty) 18th birthday.
Ten years ago.
Liam Erikson was just beginning his second year at Magic Academy. At the age of 16 he was a powerful Magic, his family held much influence in the society of Brown Magics and was regarded with much respect. Liam's father was the head of the Brown dorm at the Academy and his mother was the second head.
Liam walked off the ship with his friend Liana. Liana was a young Brown Magic. Her hair was long and a deep brown, the same colour as her eyes. The pair both wore their brown coloured magic robes. The two had known each other since childhood and were best friends.
Every ten years there was a world academic level magical tournament. The tournament was between seven major magic schools around the world. At Magic Academy each house could volunteer up to two students to battle in a smaller school tournament and the top three would represent the Academy in the global level.Liam's father had already told him that he and Liana were going to be the first choice volunteers for the Brown house however should they refuse then another two would be selected.
Liam knew however that his father would force him to participate as a matter of family pride.
The tournament began only a week into term and all participants didn't have to go to class in this time and were able to have some last minute training.'So where do you think your dad is?' Liana asked.
'He's probably at the school. He's just about always doing some kind of research or study.' Liam replied.
'What about your mum then?'
'She'll probably be at the courtyard waiting to greet the students.'
'No offence but sometimes I don't know how your parents got together.'
'None taken, they couldn't be more different. Dad is so obsessed with his job and research that he hardly has time for anyone whereas mum loves the students here and people in general.'
'I think you're more like your mum.' Liana smiled.
When the students reached the school sure enough Liam's mother awaited all of the student at the door to the entrance hall inside the courtyard.
She was a tall woman, in her late thirties. Her hair was brown, short at the front and only slightly longer at the back. She wore a long dress under a cardigan, like all other Magic's her clothes were the same colour that her powers were.
'Hello everyone!' She shouted waving. 'It's good to see you all again and it's lovely to see some new faces.' She smiled.
'If you would all please be a bit more patient the principal will be here soon with a special announceme-'
Liam's mother was interrupted by a swirling explosion of smoke that made all the students cough.
When the smoke cleared Kellam, the principal stood with his arms outstretched, smiling.
'Ta-da!' He shouted happily.
There was a short silence, then some whispers and even a few students laughing.
'Welcome back and welcome to Magic Academy, students of old and new!' He shouted cheerfully.
'This year students, as I'm sure some of you are aware is the year of the World Academy Level Magic Tournament.' Many of the newer students seemed confused but last year's almost seemed exited.
'Each house is able to nominate two participants; these two will be asked by the head of their houses to participate however you should be aware that you are allowed to decline, there is no rule forcing people to enter.'
Kellam extended his hand and a scroll appeared in a flash.
'I have here a list of participants whose parents have contacted the school and requested their entry for our schools mini tournament which will determine the three going to the world level.'
Kellam noticed that he had the attention of every person in the courtyard as his eyes scanned the crowd.
'The first participants are nominated from the Brown house.' Kellam announced.
'Liam Erikson.' Liam guessed.
'The first two is Liam Erikson and Liana Riano.' Kellam Announced.
'Psychic.' Liam muttered with a soft laugh.
'If you would please go inside a teacher from your house will lead you to what will be a training area.'
This teacher would be Liam's mother, she would lead him to the brown training are and then his father would train him and Liana.
'You don't have to do this.' Liam said to Liana.
'Don't be silly, if you're in this I'm in it too!' Liana smiled reassuringly.
'Thank you.' Liam said feeling glad to have such a good friend.
