Leon found himself floating in a black void. There was nothing surrounding him but darkness.
He floated looking back and forth like this for hours.
There was no wind in the space, no sound at all, but his own thoughts and the words of Kellam echoing in the back of his mind. ‘Calm, concentrate, calm, concentrate.’ The words repeated over and over again.
In this space Leon was able to reflect on all of his battles and his time at Magic Academy. He remembered the battle with Edward, the battle with Malqua and all the training he had been through. These memories served as a form of mental training that allowed him to not only understand how his powers worked but also allowed him to gain a greater understanding of himself.
The harshest memories to him were the sweetest ones, the memories of Alexandra, her smile her voice. Each time he remembered a happy time with her it would be interrupted by her death and he would lose focus.
A new voice entered suddenly into the empty space, with it a bright blue light shone off in the distance. ‘I don’t blame you.’ It spoke kindly. Leon floated towards the light. ‘You can’t blame yourself. So many people are depending on you to save them, be their hero.’ It spoke again.
‘Alexandra?!’ Leon shouted. There was no answer but rather more words that ignored his own.
‘Please save them, save them.’ The voice got louder and louder the closer Leon got to the light until it fully enveloped him.
Leon was blinded he couldn’t see a single thing for several seconds and when he could finally see again he was inside of the empty black space.
This time something was different. There was a floor beneath him, he was standing.
At first Leon hadn’t noticed it but there were countless stars above him forming a sky.
‘Where am I now?’ he asked aloud.
‘You’re in our shared mind.’ Another voice spoke.
Leon was startled, he looked around desperately trying to find who it was who had spoken.
‘Whose there?’
The stars began to rapidly swirly and fall downward in front of Leon until their light formed into a person.
The person was taller than Leon and handsome. He wore a long blue trench coat, his eyes were a deep sapphire blue and his hair was several different shades of blue.
‘I am.’ He said.
Leon was stunned. This man looked almost exactly like him but he was clearly older by at least fifteen years.
‘You’re me.’ He stated.
‘Not quiet Leon, but search your mind and you will know who I am.’
Leon paused for a minute and then looked at the man in the eyes. ‘My ancestor, the one who sealed away Blue and Black Magic, that’s who you are.’
‘Correct. Although you were sort of right the first time. I am you, but at the same time I’m not.’
‘What does that mean?’
‘When I finally died in my time the seal passed on to my child and I was locked inside of it along with the powers of every Blue Magic at the time I created the seal. Everyone given the seal after would have their powers sealed away as well so that they could not attempt to break the seal. You were to be the same however the bearer of the seal, died before you were born and so I feared that the seal, Blue Magic would be lost forever and so I attempted to pass it on before its previous carrier died and while your mother was pregnant with you, it wasn’t working at first so I placed some of my spirit inside the unborn child, this is why you look like me. You could say I am the manifestation of your powers.’
‘So I’m just a copy of you?’
‘No. whilst you look like me and were partially created from my spirit you are your own person. I believe that because of this you are stronger than anyone that came before, and not just physically but spiritually as well. Your desire to protect others, your ability to care for even your opponent to the point where you wouldn’t take a human life, I believe this is what makes you more powerful than anyone that has come before you, even myself.
‘Thank you I’m touched Leon said meaningfully.
‘It is for these reasons that I think that this seal must finally be undone and in doing so you will permanently become a Blue Magic, you and I will not only be similar but one in the same. You will not only become the most powerful Magic in current times but also throughout history. I think you are deserving of these powers, you can defeat those who I could not.’
‘Wait so does this mean that I will have access to all of my power?’
‘No, you will have to train to tap into it progressively; however you will already have access to the power you have used. You will already be powerful enough to defeat the Black Magic.’
The man smiled and placed his hand on Leon’s shoulder. ‘I’m proud of you kid.’ His voice was filed with admiration.
‘Thank you.’ Leon smiled.
‘No Leon thank you.’
