In no time the two weeks passed.
Leon had learned no new spells or any at all for that matter and his sister had just been entirely laid back. She did no studying and was entering the exam with her knowledge and skills in magic she had since she was five.

The car ride to the port where the boat to take them to the island which the Academy was on was long, or it felt that way to Leon. He had spent most of the time day dreaming and regretting that he had not just caught a bus.
Originally Colin had planned on giving him a lift but his parents wouldn’t allow it; they wanted to make sure Leon made it to the boat and didn’t run away.
Cars zoomed past. Even cars represented the colours of a magic family.
‘This is ridiculous, I can’t use magic’ Leon mumbled under his breath.
Leon’s mother looked at him in the rear view mirror worryingly.

Twenty minutes passed and they reached the dock at Neo city.
All the buildings in the city were either grey or brown.
Most of the people in the city weren’t magic’s and wore the white clothes they were meant to.
When Leon stepped out of his car he was faced with looks of disgust and shock from adults, teens his age and even children seemed to mumble.
‘You should have worn white’ his sister scorned but Leon just ignored her.

‘Hey Leon!’ shouted a familiar Scottish accent.
Leon spun around and there was Blaine.
’Where’s Colin?’
‘He’s on board already, grab your stuff and well get going.’
‘Hey Leon here!’ Skylar dragged over Leon’s suitcase.
Leon grabbed it and bent down.
‘Thanks little bro, I’ll miss you.’
‘I’ll miss you too.’
‘Stand still for a second buddy.’
Leon pulled a slim camera out from his back pocket; he pointed it at Skylar and took a photo of his younger brother with a huge grin on his face.
‘Now you take care Skylar.’
Leon turned and walked off dragging his heavy suitcase behind him.

The boat to take them to the island was huge. It could fit thousands of people.
Colin was waiting inside a giant room filled with other teenagers all wearing different coloured clothes.
Blaine and Leon walked in, a few people gave glances to Leon, but more just looked past him.
‘Hey is that Colin over the…’
Suddenly Leon got bowled over by a young girl.

 ‘Oh I’m sorry, I didn’t mean too…ah’
Leon’s head felt like he was spinning. Still he managed to pull himself up.
‘Oh that’s ok are you alright? Hey why do you look so…’
‘You’re not wearing any… any matching colour, isn’t that illegal?’
‘What?’ Leon quickly looked himself up and down.
‘Oh yeah right, I’m a blank, but I can’t actually use magic so I don’t care what I wear, besides, making people wear different colours is just an excuse to single people out and a way of segregation when you think about it. And wearing the same colour is kinda dull.’
‘That’s an interesting view, I’m Alexandra, a gold magic, pleased to meet you.’
‘Leon, I’m Leon.’

Alexandra had long golden hair and eyes, she was wearing a gold dress too.
‘So you’re gold magic right?’ Leon asked.
‘Oh yeah I am. Hey if you’re a blank why are your eyes brown?’
‘Oh I don’t have any magic powers. ‘
‘You mean your hair is brown because you’re just human?’
‘Yup that’s me’
‘Hey you two come on your blocking up the line’ said Blaine.

Alexandra ran off to a group of other girls, a few of them giggled and she turned back around and smiled.
‘Hey lads come on hurry up!’ Shouted Colin waving his arms around.
Blaine and Leon ran over to him.
Like Blaine he was wearing his colour, Red, Blaine was wearing green.

Inside the room that was the cargo hold of the ship were hundreds of kids Leon’s age.
About thirty people in white. But the rest were in different colours.
Red, Green, purple, Orange, Aqua, yellow a few gold. There were people of almost every colour imaginable.
However no matter how much he looked around there were no Blue or Black Magic’s.
Leon began to wonder if there were any Magic’s of Blue and Black even existed, then he remembered that when he was young a teacher had told his class that there really were no Blue or Black Magic’s left in the world and as a result lots of colours that branched off from Blue or Black were dying out.

Leon never really had been much for paying attention to the history of Magic, he was an outcast from being a Blank, if not for Blaine and Colin he would really be alone at school.
The blanks were a racial minority. They were far outnumbered by the combined population of Magic’s, a few hundred thousand, not many.
Allot viewed the Blanks as an impurity, as a way of Magic leaving the world and so many Blanks died at childbirth or tats what people where told.
So many hated Blanks that sometimes Leon felt like he should curl up and fall inside of a tiny shell then hide from the world for the rest of his life.

Leon stuck to Blaine and Colin like superglue.
Kids his age glanced at him, some looking in wonder others in anger and disgust.
Even the adults who were probably teachers going back to the school gave him hateful looks.
A voice boomed over a loud speaker.
‘Attention! All students move to the Teachers that are wearing the colours that match your own.’
Small groups of people separated away from each other but larger groups were all the same colours so they just went to their teachers.
Allot of people in the Magic races kept only to their own tribe and resented mixing with other colours. These colours were the “superior Magic’s” these Magic’s had stronger mana compared to the other Magic’s because they only had children within their own colour increasing their children’s Magic strength.

Most people never said anything against it but allot of people found it awkward, although the counter to the argument would be that the Magic’s who had children with other magic groups and then their children did the same were blamed for creating the Blanks.

Leon found himself separated from his friends.
‘Blaine, Colin where are you?’ He shouted.
There was no response; the noise from the hall was far too loud to hear anyone individually.
Leon pushed his way passed people and finally caught a group of people who looked like blanks.
As fast as he could Leon shot out of the crowd and ran toward the group of Blanks.

‘They look so dull and well, blank. No pun intended’ Leon thought to himself.
‘Hey.’ Said a scrawny young boy standing at the edge of the group.
Everyone there were nearly slouching, they looked kind of down and intimidated by the hundreds of Magics around them.
Leon considered himself lucky, most Blanks were poor and had little money, Leon’s family lived in a nice house and he was well taken care of, most Blanks stood out from Magics, Blanks were in poverty, mostly poor. But Leon if he were to wear any colours or a magic’s clothing he could be mistaken for almost any middle class Magic.

‘Um hi. You guys are Blanks too right?” Leon asked nervously.
It didn’t matter how much bigger and healthier he may be physically these other Blanks still had magic powers and he didn’t.
Leon felt as though he was being stared at.
High level Magics could sense the Mana output or level of an individual, could they tell he had no abilities?
The teacher who the few Blanks surrounded was big and muscly, his hair grey even though he looked as though he was in his late thirties.
‘It’s a pleasure to meet you all.’ His voice was low and showed years of resentment.
‘There’s no point in us staying here. I’ll show you to your rooms, they are all together and I will be in a room in the same area so if you feel the need to see me at all during our voyage you will probably find me there or in the teachers’ lounge.’
