Liana was competing in the first round of the tournament. She was paired up against a male Orange Magic.
As she stepped into the courtyard Liam shouted out behind her ‘Good luck!’
‘Thanks!’ She shouted back.
The Orange Magic was rather thin and scrawny. He held a short crystal sword in his and that had changed with his mana.
Liana wielded her crystal wand ready to cast when the fight began.
‘Good luck and may the best of us win.’ Liana said smiling.
‘Uhh, yeah good luck.’ He said stumbling over his own words.
‘Let the match…BEGIN!’ Kellam shouted.
The magic walls sprung up in the courtyard, protecting the audience from any misfired magical blasts.
‘I’ll start things off!’ Liana shouted. She moved into casting pose, extending her wand forward and shouted ‘With all the strength of a hundred stones I create the brown mana volley!’

A hundred small spheres of brown coloured mana rapidly fired out of the tip of Liana’s wand.
Some spheres slammed into the ground at her opponent’s feet kicking up dust and dirt.
When Liana’s attack ended there was a thick layer of dirt around where the Orange Magic had been.
‘Did I hit him? There was such a large distance most of my shots missed.’ Liana sighed.
When the dust cleared the Orange Magic was still standing.
‘Wow what a nice attack.’ He complemented.
‘So I did miss?’
‘No your shots would have hit but I put up a shield in time to block.’ The Orange Magic said smilling.
‘So you’re not just all bones?’
‘You’re mean!’
‘No just impressed.’
‘Ok, we’ll be impressed by this!’ He shouted. The orange magic raised his own crystal wand into the air and chanted. ‘I call upon the spirit of the divine space fire, Bright Star!’
There was a sudden blinding light that appeared out of nowhere.
Liana closed her eyes and covered her head with her left arm.
‘I can’t see a thing!’ She shouted.
‘That’s what’s meant to happen. And now that you can’t see so you may as well give up!’ The Orange Magic shouted but with no malice in his voice.
‘I’m sorry but I’m still in this. With the strength of a wall of stone I create the rock barrier of indestructibility!’ A wall of stones formed around Liana and then turned into a dome surrounding her. There was however a hole out the front that let light inside.
Liana stood in the centre of the dome and pointed her wand towards the hole.
‘With the strength of cascading boulder I create the brown mana beam!’ A thin beam of mana shot through the hole and collided into the centre of the Orange Magics chest sending him toppling back across the ground.

The magic light faded away and as it did Liana let down the stone dome.
The Orange Magic lay on the ground, winded and unable to continue fighting.
‘The winner is Liana of the brown house!’ Kellam shouted.
The Magical barrier went down and Liana ran over to Liam and hugged him.
‘I did it!’ She shouted.
‘That was great work.’ Liam smiled.
‘It was sloppy; you should have ended someone like him in one hit.’ Liam’s father scolded.
‘But dad she won.’
‘I know she did, but I expect you to do even better during your match Liam.’
‘Speaking of which when is my match?’
‘It’s at the last round today; count yourself lucky, you get the most time to prepare for your opponents tomorrow after you win your match. So you are to stay here and watch, understand?’
Liam rolled his eyes and nodded ‘Yes dad.’

The hours ticked by slowly while Liam sat back and watched the rest of the fights when finally it reached the Liam’s round the Male fighters from the Orange, Aqua and Green had been eliminated. The female from the Red and gold had been eliminated as well.
It was three in the afternoon when Liam’s battle finally arrived.
He stood in the arena waiting and looking through the crowd for Liana and his father. Surely enough Liam heard when Liana shouted out ‘Kick butt Liam!’
Liam’s opponent was Red magic.
He was the same age as Erikson, his hair was long and it reached down to shoulder length but stuck up at some points. The Red Magic looked like he worked out allot which gave Liam the impression that he specialised as a melee magic user.
‘My name is Liam, what’s yours?’ Liam asked.
‘I’m Flare.’ The red Magic responded.
Flare didn’t seem particularly interested in fighting Liam.
Flare balanced himself on a crystal battle axe that was half the size of his body.
Liam drew his crystal sword and held it next to himself in both hands. It glowed bright with magic and then formed into a more realistic looking brown sword.
‘You should probably pickup your weapon too.’ Liam recommended.
‘Whatever.’ Flare said picking up his axe. It glowed a bright red and transformed with a brilliant red glow.
The magical barrier lit up around them.
‘Don’t you dare lose.’ Mr Erikson warned under his breath.
