The sky was dark, the clouds were mixed between blue, black and purple. The sun wasn’t in sight and there were small flashes of lightning in the clouds and cracks of light thunder.
Leon was on his knees, his body was weak, his clothes torn and stained with his blood.
‘Where am I?’ He asked weakly. He could barely open his eyes. He glanced around using what little strength he could. Everything was blurred, Leon couldn’t even make out shapes.
‘What’s wrong with me?’ He mumbled. He tried blinking to get his vision back; he blinked again and again until suddenly he could see properly. Leon nearly threw up at what he saw.
Bodies, hundreds of bodies. Disfigured and deformed their limbs lay sprawled out all over the ground, the brick and stone. Blood stained stones and broken pillars and a shattered.

The blood wasn’t in small amounts; it covered the ground as if a layer of crimson water.
All of Leon’s clothes were stained in blood, his magic clothes. The blue turned a saturated dark red.
‘What is this place? These people who are they?’ he managed to ask out loudly.
‘This is the end of all time, the end of your world, the end of all you’ve known, and the end of your life.’
A shadow black figure stood in front of Leon, it vibrated with a black mist form of magic.
‘Who are you? What is this place?’
‘This is Magic Academy; I am realities end, and yours.’
The shadow thrusted a blade into Leon’s heart and everything turned black.

“AH!’ Leon shouted as he flung up out of his bed, heart was racing and breathing heavy.
Three months had passed since Malqua’s attack on the island; Leon lived in a new black dorm that was on the corner of the village, it looked over a hull down to the sea instead of a cliff.
Leon’s room was on the second floor and had a glass sliding door that led out onto a balcony.
Leon climbed out of bed; he was shaky on his feet. He opened the sliding door and stepped out onto the balcony, the fresh sea air felt relaxing on his skin.
‘What was that?’ Leon asked himself. ‘Was that some kind of vision? What kind of vision could that have been if it was one.’
It was still night time; the moon was low in the sky though. The stars sparkled beautifully in the dark of the nights sky.
‘It must be close to morning now.’ Leon thought allowed as he turned to the clock next to his bed. ‘6:00, it’s still early. School won’t start till nine.’

Leon decided he should go and have a warm shower; the warm water might bring him back to reality.
The bathrooms weren’t far away from Leon’s room but they weren’t too impressive. There was a toilet and sink but the shower was just an open space with a drain on the floor. Often the water would spray onto the other side of the room from the dodgy shower head and would make Leon’s towel wet before he even got the chance to actually use it.
The water was cold at first; it took a minute or two to warm up.
This new Blank dorm, while better than the last still was far from the best dorm ever.
A portion of the school dorm heads had voted to have the dorm upgraded to normal standards, Erikson and the principal had voted for that however some more racist and prejudice teachers had voted to not have a Blank dorm re-built at all and that all Blanks should be removed from the school but they quickly softened their opinion when the principal had gotten mad.
Eventually the dorm was re-built but not to the standards that the principal and Erikson wanted or what Leon had hoped for.
Still Leon decided he would settle for this new dorm at least it wasn’t a pile of rubble like the last one.

The morning seemed to approach quickly, the cold night air replaced by a slightly warmer cold day.
Today there was supposed to be a new student coming; he was a Blank like Leon except unlike Leon he had apparently gotten into the school because his father was rich. Some of the racist staff members must have been paid off to let him come because Magics generally disapprove of Blanks regardless of what social class they came from.

Leon wandered the outskirts of the town.
The hill that the dorm was on had the perfect view over the town. Many of the damaged buildings were repaired or almost finished being repaired. The roads had been fixed and the peer repaired and there were already a few people fishing at different points on it.
‘It’s good to see the town recovering.’ Leon thought.
Many of the trees along the path to the academy had lost their leaves in the weather. Some of the leaf piles went up to Leon’s knees. A child like part of him wanted to run into the piles and start to play in them, pretend that he was swimming in a sea of leafs.

Leon reached the school earlier than usual. Almost no one was around; Leon sat on a bench in the courtyard and waited for his friends to arrive. Alexandra arrived first and sat down next to Leon.
‘Hey there.’ She said giving him a hug.
Leon hugged her back.
‘I had a weird dream last night.’ Leon admitted.
‘What happened?’
‘I don’t know, now that I think about it, it seems so unreal and I’m not sure how to describe it.’
‘It’s ok Hun I’m here.’ Said reassured Leon holding his hand.
‘It was, it was horrifying. There were people, bodies everywhere. It was a terrible nightmare but it felt real and there was this person or more of a figure, covered in shadows and he stabbed me, right here.’ Leon said gesturing to his heart.
‘It was just a dream, everything will be ok.’
Alexandra hugged Leon again then kissed him. ‘See everything is fine.’
‘Thank you.’

Not long after the rest of Leon’s friends arrived, ready for morning classes.
They talked to each other until the bell went and were just about ready to go to class when the teacher that Leon remembered dancing with Erikson.
‘Attention all students, there is to be an assembly instead of first classes today, if you would all follow me into the main hall and find seats it would be greatly appreciated.’ She announced.
All of the students shuffled in through the entrance doors then into the main hall.
There were seat lined up along the walls and students had begun to take seats by the time that Leon managed to squeeze through the door.
Leon took a seat next to Alexandra and the rest of his friends.
When everyone apart from a few teachers sat down the principal began to talk.
‘Attention! Briefly we will be joined by a new student. He comes from America and is an exchange student, he will be staying with us until the end of his education so I would like for each one of you to try and make friends with him.’
The entrance doors flung open and in stepped a large well-built man in a white suit. His footsteps were quick and loud and following close behind him were four more strong looking men in white suits surrounding a young boy about Leon’s age who had jet black hair which was what had stood out because he wore typical Blank robes, white with not allot of detail.

Almost everyone in the hall was silent, the men were so intimidating and Leon noticed that even Edward was quiet.
The man walking out the front of the group stepped up next the principal who quickly moved aside and took a position in the middle of the ledger.
He adjusted the microphone to his height and began to talk.
‘I won’t waste rambling; I’ll get straight to the point.’ There was a serious tone in his voice that Leon found unsettling.
‘My son’s name is Rick. Rick is here in order to learn proper ways to master the use of magic and learn life lessons, I want absolutely no disturbances to his education.’
‘Wow that’s the polar opposite of what the principal said.’ Leon thought jokingly.

The guards turned and the man said one last thing. ‘I’ll be on my way that is all.’
The hall remained silent until the man and his guards had left leaving Rick standing in front of the ledger on his own.
The principal stepped back to the ledger, re-adjusted the microphone and said ‘You can sit over there Rick.’ He pointed to the seat next to Leon that was empty.
Rick simply nodded and walked over to Leon.
As Rick passed Leon the two accidentally made eye contact but then both quickly looked away.
‘Well I hope you all enjoyed this morning’s assembly and please do try to make Rick feel at home here.’ The principal smiled before finishing.

‘As everyone began to leave Leon hugged Alexandra and waved goodbye to the rest of his friends, he then proceeded to quickly walk after Rick who seemed in a hurry.
‘Hey Rick, I’m Leon.’ He said smiling.
‘Hi.’ Rick replied shyly.
‘What class do you have first?’ Leon asked trying to be friendly.
‘History.’
‘That’s great me too! I can show you where the room is if you like?’
‘Ok sure.’
Leon couldn’t help but feel a little awkward, he wondered for a while just why Rick wasn’t very talkative but he just brushed it of as not leaving his father probably not letting him have allot of social contact.

Almost everyone seemed to get out of the way of Rick as he walked down the hallway. It was as if everyone was intimidated by him, he didn’t seem that scary to Leon.
‘Well here we are.’ Leon smiled when they reached the history room.
The room was filled with long bookshelves crammed with history books. There was a blackboard at one end and three rows of conjoint tables.
Leon and Rick went over to small lockers along the back wall; inside each locker were history text books and a few note books along with some pencils and erasers.
‘You can use one of my books if you don’t have your own.’ Leon offered.
‘Thanks.’ Rick replied.
The two took seats in the middle of the front row.
‘I hope you know your history.’
‘No one knows it better.’ Rick said with the first faint hint of a smile all day.
