"Wow," I said in utter shock. In front of me was a table and two chairs. On the table was a lit candle, two wine glasses, and grape juice in bottle that looked like a wine bottle. In the center of the table was a basket. Behind the table was a beautiful, tall tree. Along the branches of the tree were lights, and on two branches hung two more lit candles. Behind this scene was the Shenandoah River. This whole area was close to the shoreline and away from the city, and it was truly amazing.
"Do you like it?" He asked me.
"This is perfect Jacob! I love it!" I squealed before giving him a kiss on the cheek.
"I'm glad. This took me and my mom two hours to put together," he told me as he led me to the table.
"Your mom helped? How sweet!" I said.
"I'm glad you like it," he commented before pulling my chair out for me.
"Thank you," I told him, "and I do like it."
After Jacob sat down, he opened the grape juice bottle and poured both of us a glass. Then, he opened up the basket. I looked inside and found a bunch of food! I found a lot of fruit like blueberries, cherries, strawberries, kiwis, and cut up watermelon. I also saw two sandwiches that looked homemade. They also looked really delicious!
"Did you make these sandwiches?" I asked Jacob as I grabbed one out of the basket and bit into it.
"Yeah, all by myself," he said before taking a bite out of his.
"They are so good!" I exclaimed.
"Thank you," he smirked, "I tried my hardest."
After we ate, Jacob walked me down to the river. Once we got there, I saw a big blanket laid down close to the shoreline. I looked up and saw a beautiful sight. The sky was covered in bright stars. They were everywhere, and it was truly breathtaking.
Jacob and I sat down on the blanket and stared at the starry night together.
"Isn't it cool?" Jacob asked, grabbing my hand.
"This is incredible, Jacob! I haven't seen a starry sky this bright in years," I smiled at the sky.
"I know right," he agreed, "I picked the perfect night to have this dinner-date with you."
"Yes you did," I said scooting closer to him and putting my head on his shoulder.
"I love you," he whispered while twirling my hair.
"I love you more," I whispered back.
"Impossible," he said.
"It's the truth," I giggled.
"Fine, you win!" He laughed as he laid down.
"Don't I always?" I asked, laying down next to him.
"No...," he trailed off.
"Sure," I said sarcastically. For the next twenty minutes, we just laid there together looking at the night sky. After we had had enough of the beautiful view, we got back in the car and Jacob drove us to the apartment. Once we made it back, we went to our bedroom and got ready for bed since it was 10 PM and we were exhausted.
"Can you believe we have been together for 4 and a half years?" I sighed as I laid down on the bed in my pajamas.
"Wow..." Jacob mumbled as he jumped on the bed, "that's crazy!"
"Tell me about it!" I grabbed the remote and turned on the TV.
"Tonight was awesome," he whispered before kissing me.
"Yes... it... was," I said in between kisses.
"You know it!" He ran his fingers through my hair.
"Tonight was fun, but now it's time to hit the hay," I yawned.
"You're right," Jacob yawned after me, then pulled the bed sheets over us.
"Night Jacob," I turned out the lamp on my nightstand.
"Night Sierra," he replied, "love you."
"Love you more," I said.
"Love you most," he said.
"Fine you win, but next time I'm gonna win!" I whisper-yelled.
"Haha sure," he giggled.
Just after he said that I was already falling into a deep sleep.
