Katie sighed as she looked out the bus window. Before forth grade, she had been home schooled, but this year, Katie's parents had decided to put the two into public schooling.
It had only been a month and a half into public schooling and Katie loathed school. She knew everything they taught her, or at least in Science and Math. English, she needed was actually a little bit behind.
It was a Friday and Katie was looking forward to the weekend.
Katie than looked at her brother, who sat next to her on the bus, and tapped his shoulder to get his attention. "Do you want to play some Mario Cart Twelve (First game that came to mind that I can see still being popular in later years. Don't judge) when we get home, Matt?"
Matt looked back at her and had an apologetic face on. She knew that wasn't good. "Not really. Sorry Katie. Shiro is coming home this weekend from the Garrisons and we were planning on playing together outside."
Katie than remembered Takashi. Two years ago Takashi's parents were in town and had decided to visit her family, since both mothers were good friends in high school.
Takashi and Matt became instant friend's and stayed in touch after Takashi went back to his home.
But once he reached seventh grade, Takashi had been accepted into the Garrisons. The Garrisons offered classes from seventh grade till twelve and a couple of years into college, but if you were seventh grade to tenth grade, you could live on Campus, but had to go home on the weekends.
Takashi unfortunately lived in Arizona, so that wasn't going to be the easiest thing to do. Since Katie's family didn't live that far away, Katie's mother had offered to let Takashi live with them on the weekends.
Ever since then, Matt had been spending more time with him than her.
"Well, why don't we play until mom comes home with him?" Katie offered, trying to be optimistic.
"Can't I got homework." Matt replied.
"What about we all play?" Katie said desperately.
"Shiro doesn't like video games as much as you and me. Plus, we wanted to climb trees in the forest, and pretend we are surviving in the forest."
Katie huffed as she folded her arms and looked back out the window.
"You know," Matt offered. "You can play with us."
"I'll pass." Katie grunted.
The rest of the bus ride was silent. Once they got home, Katie went to her room as Matt sat on the front room couch to complete his homework before Shiro came.
Katie was mad. Not only was school ruining her life, but so was Takashi. She threw her backpack at her wall as she flopped onto her bed.
She grabbed her pillow and screamed into it.
She felt like she was losing her closest friend and she couldn't do a single thing about it.
She turned her head and looked at her desk as she saw the half broken laptop. Maybe she could continue to work on it to relieve some of her anger.
Also, if Matt wasn't going to play with her, she might as well do what she loves the second most.
---
Matt had finished the last question as he packed up his backpack. He put his backpack away as he waited at the front door. He was super eager to play with his friend again.
Just as he checked out the window beside the door, he saw his mother pull up in her minivan. Matt ran out the door as he greeted his friend in shot gun of the car.
