Matt walked into the front room as he noticed a letter on the end table. It was from the Garrisons to Katie. It sat there, unopened. He picked it up and dusted it off as it had collected a bit of dust over the while. It was about a month after this letter was received. Matt than left the room as he walked to his room.
Matt closed the door behind him, as he sat down on his bed. He looked closely at the envelope. Up in the left corner is said, "Ms. Katie Holt" as underneath was their address.
He honestly was curious, so he opened it. He pulled out the letter as he read it outloud.
"Dear Ms. Katie Holt, we are pleased to announce you had scored 48 points on the entry exam and have here by been accepted into the Galaxy Garrison program. You will start the 26th of August of the year 2032." He let out a sigh as he placed the letter back inside. The rest was about the details of enrolling and he already read it in his letter.
He than heard his door open. It was his mother. "A forty-eight, huh?"
He looked up at her as he set the letter down on his bed. His mother then sat down on the bed next to him. "Looks like Katie would've been going to the Garrisons, too..." Matt sighed.
"It also looks like she beat you." Colleen added as Matt leaned against her arm.
Matt chuckled. "She wouldn't let me live it down... if she was here..." He looked down in silence.
"I know... I know..." Colleen sighed as she put her arm around him comfortingly.

Sam came home as he saw his wife on the couch, alone staring at the wall. He set his stuff down as he sat down next to her. "How are you doing?" He asked, putting his arm around her shoulders and pulling her in close to him.
She cuddled him as he said, "Sam... I worry for Matt..."
He let out a sigh. "I know..."
"It's been about a month and he's made little recovery. I mean, he doesn't cry at the mention of her name anymore, but other than that, there is nothing..." Colleen mentioned.
"What about a dog?" Sam suggested.
"What?" Colleen looked up at him.
"I mean, we were planning on giving them a dog for their birthday before..." He trailed off, but then kind of skipped it. "What if we got Matt a dog for his birthday? It might give him the comfort he needs and would help him recover faster." He proposed.
"That might be a good idea." She smiled a bit as she looked at him. Sam was glad to see her happy. He absolutely hated to see her depressed. She than quickly pecked him on the lips and then stood up, stretched, and walked to the kitchen to make dinner.
Oh, how he loved her.
He stood up as he walked to Matt's room. He wanted to check on him. He slowly opened the door as he saw him asleep on his bed. He smiled as he saw him at peace.
He closed the door as he left the room. He knew for assurity that he wanted to get him a dog.
