Shiro froze, lowering his hand. He wasn’t sure if she was messing with him, or if she actually forgot him.

Matt began to chuckle a bit, weakly. “You haven’t changed.”

Katie looked up at him confused. “I haven’t?”

“No, you still hate Shiro.” He laughed a bit.

“Who’s Shiro?” Katie tilted her head.

“You can drop the act Katie.” Matt laughed.

“What act?” Katie was getting worried and confused.

“That you don’t know Shiro.” Matt replied, started to pick up on the fact that she was being serious. “Katie, you really don’t remember him, do you?”

Katie shook her head.

Hailey sighed. “She couldn’t remember anything. I’m surprised she even remembered your name. The only thing we had to go by was she claimed her name was Katie, and that she recognized a picture of you.” Hailey looked at Samuel.

Matt looked back at Katie in shock. “You don’t remember anything?” He asked.

Katie shook her head. “But I know you’re my family.” She looked like she was going to start crying. A look of feeling lost was evident in her face. A face of wanting to belong.

Colleen walked up to Katie as she grabbed her hand gently. She smiled weakly at her daughter. “Don’t worry, we have you. You’re safe Katie…”

Lindsey was frozen as she sat there. “You- you’re kidding, right?”

“No, Lindsey. Hannah was Katie Holt. The entire time, we had saved Samuel Holt’s daughter.” Garret explained.

Lindsey blinked. “Can I still see her?” She asked.

“Well, I don’t know. Probably not. But I think, more than anything, she needs to be with her family.” Garret replied.

“Of course.” Lindsey nodded slowly, still taking everything in.

“Katie Holt…?” Lindsey muttered, under her breath.

“I have to go. I’ll see you tonight.” Garret quickly said. “Love you. Bye.”

“Bye.” Lindsey ended the call. She then pulled up one of the articles about Katie Holt. She was curious on what it said.

“Katie Holt, the daughter of the Samuel Holt, lived in Albano, Texas. She was twelve almost thirteen when in late January, she disappeared and not to long after was declared dead. While the world was mourning the sweet little girl’s death, Katie had actually never died. The girl had stayed unidentified in a coma for months until today, she had woken up as her family confirmed her as Katie Holt. As for the hospital she’s located in, that information has been disclosed for her privacy.” There was more on the author of the article’s opinion, but Lindsey didn’t care to read it.

She set down her phone as she she stared at nothing for a while. To think, this entire time, Hannah, the small girl she had loved as he own, was Katie Holt.
