"Stop trying to eat the rubber off the roof!" Katie scolded her brother.
"I'm hungry and I haven't eaten anything all day and now the sun is setting!" Matt complained.
Their parents ended up calling the police around noon, but even with the police all around the house, in the forest, and everywhere in the neighborhood, nobody was able to find them, and they had no way of singling them without putting their lives in danger.
"You won't die!" Katie sated while putting her hands on her hips. "But it was your fault we are stuck up here!"
"My fault?! You didn't tell me your window wouldn't hold up!"
"I didn't know what you were doing!" Katie stated now furious at her brother. She also was hungry, and thirsty. Oh how she would love a cup of water right now.
"Than you should've asked!"
"I did! And if you really wanted to do this, why did you use your window where you knew it would hold up!"
"My window is right under a peak! I wouldn't be able to reach the roof if I wanted to."
"Whatever. I just hope we don't have to stay up here another night!" Katie sighed as she laid down and pulled the blanket over her.
"It's not night time yet!" Matt said.
"I understand." Katie replied. "But I'm tired of your complaining."
---
Colleen sat uneasy on her couch, with tears in her eyes. Shiro petted her back as Samuel tried to call around to find any new information.
"It's okay, Mrs. Holt. We'll find them." Shiro tried to reassure her.
She let out a small smile as she turned to look at her best friend's child. "Thank you."
"Hey, Shiro?" Samuel called from the kitchen. "Can you come here?"
Shiro nodded as he grabbed his crutches and went over to where Samuel was.
"Do you think you could do me a favor?" Samuel asked.
"Sure. What?" Shiro replied.
"Go up to their rooms, and maybe see if there was a letter. If the two ran away, they would've left a letter, or a note, or something."
"Sure thing!" Shiro replied as he headed to the rooms.
"Hey Shiro?" Samuel called from a distance. Shiro turned around. "Don't tell Colleen, if you do find one."
Shiro nodded and hobbled to the rooms.
First, he entered Matt and his room. Looking on Matt's bed and on his desk. Not looking to deep, because if Matt ran away and left a note, he would want it to be at least slightly noticeable.
Nothing.
He left and entered Katie's room. The smell of peanut butter and metal filled him. Oh, did he hope they weren't kidnapped.
---
"You jerk!" Matt exclaimed as he kicked his sister.
"Ow!" Katie yelled. "You were the one who had the bright idea in the first place! You're the jerk!" She than slapped her brother.
"Hey!" Matt exclaimed as he shoved his sister. Unfortunately, this caused her to roll down the roof. "Katie!" He called realizing what he just did.
---
Shiro couldn't find anything, in her room either, but when he was about to leave the room, he had this feeling to open her window.
It was a strange feeling, but every second he waited, the feeling grew stronger.
So, he hobbled back and opened the window. Than he heard someone call "Katie!"
And within seconds, Katie fell off the roof. Luckily, he was able to catch her in time before she fell to her doom.
"Takashi!" She exclaimed as she gave him a hug.
"Where the heck have you been?!" Shiro scolded as he pulled her inside.
"Matt! The window is open!" She yelled out the window. Than Matt climbed down and inside with Katie's blanket.
"I'm sorry. Super duper sorry, Katie. I didn't--" Matt tried to apologize.
"WERE YOU GUYS ON THE ROOF ALL DAY?!" Shiro exclaimed.
Matt and Katie slowly nodded.
"Do you realize how worried your parents and I were?" Shiro asked putting a hand onto his forehead.
"You guys called the police." Matt stated.
"BUT WE TRIED TO TELL YOU GUYS WE WERE UP THERE!" Katie added.
Shiro turned around and opened her door. He than called, "Mr. And Mrs. Holt? I think I found something you might want to see!"
Immediately, they heard them practically running up the stairs. "What is it Shiro?" Colleen asked.
Shiro than motioned into the room. Colleen and Samuel look inside and gasped. They instantly ran to their children, engulfing them in a big group hug.
"Matt! Katie!" Colleen said tearing up. "I missed you!"
"Where have you guys been?" Samuel asked parting the hug.
"It's a long story." Matt stated. "But first I need to use the restroom! I have been holding it all day!"
He than ran out of the room. The attention was know on Katie.
"See, Matt wanted to see the stars last night, so he woke me up to see them, but he went on the roof. I brought a blanket, but the window closed on us, trapping us on the roof." Her head hung really low.
Colleen's eyes than widened. "You guys were on the roof?!" She exclaimed.
"That's where I found them." Shiro answered. "Actually, I had a feeling to open her window, than she fell off the roof and I caught her."
"YOU FELL OFF THE ROOF?!" Colleen freaked out even more.
"But Takashi caught me." Katie added her head still low.
There was a long pause. Than Katie felt arms rap around her again. Her mother than whispered in her ear, "I'm just glad you're here now."
Her father than said, "If you too were up there all day, you guys must be hungry."
"Starving." Katie said.
"Than let's get some food for you two." Her father than got up and headed back down the stairs.
Boy, was she relieved she was back inside her home.
